What I love about Gore's game is that he's a tough runner who will just plow into guys but at the same time, he can do those Barry Sanders-like jump cuts and spins and fake guys out of their shoes. But what I really appreciate about Gore, the man, is that he's just nails - the guy supported his sick Mother and his younger siblings while fighting a learning disability to get through high school and college, getting injured, rehabing and then getting into the NFL. The first thing he did upon getting into the NFL was buy his Mother a house to live the rest of her days in - she died last year. Frank Gore is the kind of person I always point to when I try to explain how NFL players are the highest-character professional athletes there are - the smartest, the best character, the most discipline, the most dedication, the most helpful to their communities, the whole package.

Arguably, the best back in the league...

and I will certainly make the argument. When the Niners play Minnesota, Gore is Better than AP.

Gore has a better jump-cut and spin than Adrian Peterson. Gore does that as good as any back in the league.

But this thread is about Gore and I'm not turning it into a war of words between us or a thread defending Jersey. My point still stands, on that overall yardage statistic... Gore is the bomb.

Where does gore rank in yardage if we include only the last 2 years? Where does Gore rank in TDs the last few years?

I don't care where the hell he ranks. He's gotten over 1,000 yards while playing through injuries on teams that had almost zero threat of a passing game. I'm sure you'll throw out the whole "1,000 yards is no longer a feat for rb's" and I would concur with that. Yet, you have to look at the situation he's been in. If you wanna be negative about the whole thing do it somewhere else. Note that it says "appreciation" in the title and not "critique". You might want to pay attention to details like that.

So you agree then. Gore is good but the last 2 years hasn't done all that well.

So because I don't think gore is a top 5 RB suddenly I'm not a 49er fan? I will say it again! Gore is one of my favorite players and he is good but I don't think he is elite like everyone here does.

Um no, I don't even think Gore is a top 5 Rb. But this is an appreciation thread and your just bashing him just because he didn't have that good of a season in 08.

Do you think if Adrian Peterson was on our team he woulda been able to do better? I doubt it, the Vikes actually are just a QB shy from being a SB contender team, we aren't.

You have to understand that he was our only offensive weapon last year and the year before that.

Frank Gore is our only real threat on offense.

When opposing teams play us, their goal is always to stop Frank Gore.

Hopefully this year we will have more threats in the recieving core.

I like gore and certainly appreciate what he means to the team. I just said I think he is a little over rated, which he is.
