I already detailed the workload and how unlikely it was to change.
Jacobs wont see the field as more then a 3rd & short specialist unless Gore is hurt, even then Hunter would probably be the #1 with Jacobs being the #2.
Jacobs will only see the field on 3rd(4th) & 5 or less and goal lines. Gore with 16 carries, Hunter with 6 with. Thats 22 plus a handful of gadget plays puts us over 25 rushes a game. Jacobs will detract from a handful passing plays on 3rd down but there is simply no reason to alter Gore's workload.

We're currently over 30 carries a game when you count QB carries, gadgets, etc. 24 is just the RBs.
Jacobs looked great in preseason - he lost 20 pounds and looked lean and mean. Why couldn't he get 4 - 6 carries, Hunter 6 - 8, and Gore 12 - 14?

What about right now???
The 49ers are 31st in Adjusted Sack Rate and Gore makes for a questionable safety valve....
Gore is just about top 10 in rushing....leave it alone

And he's near the bottom in yards per pass attempt.
When your QB is taking that many sacks because we have an O-line built for dominant run play, you *need* a safety valve!

we never throw a screen and its rare for the RB to go out.....again leave it alone

Im not so sure i agree that Jacobs should be used as a 3rd down back only. i mean he can still run, albeit im judging off preseason. but gore and hunter could do just as good on 3rd down these days. our running game is too creative to be just that simple and now that keap is in the picture let jacobs do his thing on whatever down. And no we shouldnt start limiting gores carries, we are already doing that anyway. let him get his 1000

He'll get 1,000 yards on 200 - 225 carries

Some running backs get better as the game goes on and need an X amount of carries just to get warmed up. Mostly cause the D gets worn down by the 4th quarter. I think a lot depends on the situation. However in answer to your specific question no. Just that the rist half should be more diversified, then its time for the bell cow. I we have a lot of short yardage situation then it gets reduced, but you have to be careful not to get into a tell pattern, like using jacobs on all short yardage situations.
