So you are saying you would prefer a worn out Frank Gore going into the second half of the season and hopefully play offs over a rested gore??

We love Frank the Tank, but HIStoRY has shown that the way he runs, his body CANNOT take a full 16 games of pounding. This is a FACT!!!!

The OP is 100% correct, Frank Gore should have his work load reduced, this will increase the odds that he can maintain his running at full strength when it counts the most, in December and January.

Why not? same production, less wear and tear.

Also, more production out of the passing game with Hunter in there.

Screens are a good thing when you get pressured like smith does. Gore isn't very good at screen plays, you know that!

Agreed, if Jacobs can do what he started to do in pre season, why not share the load with Gore and keep Hunter in his current role? Why not? We have all these personnel packages for every other position on offense, so why not? Jacobs WAS doing way more than having short yardage success. So keep pounding them with Gore/Hunter and then bring in Hunter as well, yikes!

15 carries a game is not a huge workload. You guys are over thinking this. He's still our best offensive weapon we need to use him if we want to win the division. We are not going to just coast into 1st place

I would like to see Hunter take more carries. He gets so many explosive 8-12 yard runs, but we only really get to see him in spurts. If he could shore up his pass protection/blocking and get a little closer to Gore's ability the coaching staff would probably give him a lot more reps.

Gore is leading the NFL in 10+ yard runs

Gore is averaging 16.5 attempts a game, its not a heavy load

Yep. Not saying there is anything wrong with Gore, because there's not; he's beasting it up this year. I'd just like to see more Hunter and see what he's capable of with a heavier load.
His workload is already reduced. He used to never come off the field.
lol 16.5 is nothing dude
so let's reduce the touches from the guy who averages nearly 5 yards/carry. That makes sense .... No no no, let's just playing him less on passing downs, with all the sacks Alex takes he needs a safety valve!!! because Gore isn't arguably the best RB blocker in the game .... but we're gonna wear Gore out!!!! because his touches haven't already decreased since Hunter joined the team

Isn't this already a reduction of his workload? He's not even carrying the ball 20 times a game. Plus we used to have him be a major part of the passing game so his touches are WAY down.

Gore has never been a great pass-catcher.

I stopped reading after I read that... unfortunately you put it at the end of your post.

Gore used to be a great pass catcher... at least from 05-10... just cant do it under harbaugh for some reason.

people get too caught up on Gore not being a freakish athlete, he is a very effective RB and arguably the best RB in the history of this franchise, folks need to recognize and stop being so disrespectful with silly posts

Eh, I did a couple weeks ago, but this place is kind of a ghost town...

Not true. Its just that everyone hides in the AS thread.
I say reduce his carries after he runs over 200+ yards vs. the Saints in late November.
