Frank won't be the last 49er to wear 21, nor should he be. Hating on a player because he wants to wear a particular jersey# is beyond stupid. We should just retire the #'s of all the greats. No more 16, 8, 21, 42, 34, 73, 37, 74, 80, 81.....should we go on because in our history there are a TON of greats and they all wore #'s

If you're a first ballot HOFer you should have your jersey # retired. No doubt Gore goes first ballot when he's ready.

Retiring numbers is stupid imo. Different sport but back in 2012 the fans of Juventus were asking for Del Piero's Number 10 to be retired and he stepped in and said he didn't want that to happen as when he was a kid he dreamed of wearing the Juventus 10 himself and he wouldn't want to deny a kid that opportunity in the future. Like a boss.

Soccer is different. Theres only 11 numbers. You cant retire them.

The only numbers that need to be retired are 16, 8, 80, 42, and 21.

We have too many numbers retired already IMO.

No there aren't. The number 1 thru 11 are just position designations. Guys wear different numbers all the time.

You can't retire any of those numbers because they are position designators. You can't retire 9 10 4. They are associated with the position. Its like retiring the striker position or center mid.
