So, like so many other moves he made, Baalke did the wrong thing in underestimating Frank Gore and overestimating Carlos Hyde. Conventional wisdom that youth trumps the aging veteran does not always work out. That said, I think it was best for Gore to go elsewhere rather than be a part of the dumpster fire that Baalke created. If allowed the opportunity Gore can play for a while yet, but GM's will always look for that younger (not always better) player, so he may not get an opportunity.

I feel he still doesn't get the respect and praise he deserves around the league.

Just from the pundits. Players and coaches all over the league hail him as one of the greats. But pundits gloss over him because he isn't exciting enough for the clicks.

I think if he scored the gaming winning TD of the Superbowl things would be different.

And all I can think of is 18 year old Frank playing for the greatest college football team ever. What a talent. What a man. What great character.

Let's take it back further. Didn't some people think he was done after the 2010 season (where he had the hip injury and didn't finish)? He was only getting close to 30 at that point and people thought it was over. That was almost 10 years ago....

Sometimes I wonder how many fans even remember that Frank broke his goddamn hip in the middle of his prime? No one was sure what to expect when he came back since basically no one ever breaks their hip except Bo who had to retire from football and old folks who just end up dying. So you know, not really great examples of full recovery lol.

Btw, he just went over 10k total yds last week since coming back from the broken hip. Can you imagine? That's fricking insane.

Love our RBs but would have been nice to see Frank in this offense, even now but especially in his prime
Old farts rule.

Incredible.
Would love to see Frank Gore have himself a crazy good year where he picks up 1000+ yards and 10 TDs. Would be even more amazing if he made a Pro Bowl. Living an hour from Orlando, I'd go just to see him.
This dude better make the HoF, Canton and Santa Clara. Get a statue in the 49er museum. What a damn beast.
Frank the Tank

"Gore" - what a great name for a running back.

Here's a good article the due respect he's getting in Buffalo and HoF issue

I'm surprised there was no mention of how clutch Frank is at pass protection. Probably one of the greatest blocking backs in history. Not sexy but sooooo damn important imo.

And rushing for over 10,000 yards after breaking a hip should be an automatic HOF criteria. lol

I mentioned that he didn't fit Kelly's offense, but I never said thats why he was allowed to leave.

The point is, we believed Hyde was the future bellcow back, and Gore wouldn't accept a backup role. Its the right football move to let Gore go seek a starting job. You're letting personal feelings towards a fan favorite get in the way of what made sense at the time.

You're putting it on Frank? I don't remember it that way. I think he was waiting for an offer in the ballpark, and it never came.

And there's nothing sentimental about my analysis. Frank Gore wins football games. That's why he should be on our roster. And it's the only reason. Best open field runner best blocker and he shows up at game time. It was true five years ago and it's true today.

The offered a lowball one year deal. It was a complete slap in the face.
F.G might get a 1000 yards this year at 36 years old. Big ups grandpa! Go BUFFS!
Buffalo is the team I'm rooting for in the AFC. Go Gore!

It would be soo sweet if they beat the Patriots this week.
