How is it trolling to simply state facts? Every career comes to an end at some point. Both Gore and Peterson have had HOF level careers, neither is close to the player they once were. Both are in the same boat in just hanging on with bad teams.

Do people actually want to see Gore stay around long enough to get cut in training camp by some garbage team like the Jets or the Bengals in favor of some rookie that will never be a worth a damn?

I feel the same about both guys. If you still have the desire to play and you have enough left to make a team then go for it. If they're cool with it I think that's all that really matters.

YEP. It's obvious Frank isn't ready to say goodbye to the game, personally. And, like everyone here has said, except a couple of tasteless commentators, WHOO CARES. I'm good with whatever Frank wants and when he hangs em up I will be very very sad.

Football is all he knows though. Frank is a great person but it's not like his life will ever being anything other than football. Let him do what he loves as long as he can.

I do not think about its even about stats anymore for him. He loves football, loves being around it. He loves helping other players, he loves blocking for qbs and motivating.

If he wants to beat himself up as long as he wants the more power to him.

As long as he's humble about it I do not care how long he plays.

100✓ agree. He can keep playing as long as he wants.

It's been reported he's great teaching you get RB on every team. So I'm sure he's got a future coaching hopefully as football is his passion

I miss seeing him squirt through lines when there was no hole, he made his own hole

Hey now..didn't that guy have a 200 yard game on MNF in that uniform? I remember wanting to record it and being mad that I didn't. I figured it was likely his last MNF game and he just had a crazy game that night.
Frank Gore is the Art Monk of running backs. Probably will take as long to get in the Hall.
Frank is bringing the jets to their first win. Bet it feels great for him to be able to keep playing
Frank just won the game for the Jets!

This! Dude was clutch on the first down reception just now.
Check out the power on the run at 30s and keep in mind he's listed at 165 as a true freshman. Jr has a shot to be a top prospect if he can get add 25 lbs or so before he turns pro.

Frank can do whatever the f**k he wants and will still be cherished by Niner fans. Let him do this thing. Horrible take from you. He wants to play until he can't anymore. He's in a profession where he's going to be retired before he's 40. He is cherishing every year

Who said he couldn't? He can keep playing as long as someone wants to offer him a contract. I don't think anyone has said otherwise.

Its simply a difference of opinion. To me its one thing if you're still at the top of your game and just going to ride it until the wheels fall off ala Tom Brady or you're on a stacked team and along for the ride to get a ring, another thing entirely if you're just barely hanging on and bouncing from crap team to crap team just to get a few snaps, to extend your career just a little bit longer like Gore and AP are doing. I don't see any special glory in that, going from being Pro Bowlers to just trying to hold on playing slightly above replacement level. I'm far more in favor of guys getting out when they know they are starting to slip and can't do it at the same high level, ala Patrick Willis. His foot injuries meant he couldn't be the same Patrick Willis anymore so he made the decision to get out rather than keep playing until he was a mere shell of his former self and the league told him he had to go.

I've always felt it's better to leave on your own terms than to be forced out, others feel differently and that's cool, we're all entitled to our own opinions.

I respect both choices. When Jerry Rice left the 9ers this board was full of people saying he needed to hang em up and that he'd tarnish his legacy if he kept going. But they were wrong. His numbers went up with the Raiders. He played at a high level and came a victory away from another super bowl ring. Eventually he did have to be told he couldn't make the cut anymore but I don't think there was any shame in that or that it tarnished his legacy, in a way it almost adds to it. Some guys love the game so much that they keep going until they're told they have to stop. That is going out on your own terms, it's just a different choice.

Completely agree.
I have no problems with Gore in continuing his career.....in fact, I think you can really make a case that had he simply retired after his 49er career, he wouldn't end up in the HOF. His resume with the Colts/Jets/Dolphins/Bills is average at best, but he's compiled a lot of numbers to get him a gold jacket - which I personally don't agree with IMO - but the precedent is there.
