Is it too much to ask that we win back to back Super Bowls and that Frank Gore can retire after the 2014 season with 2 Super Bowl rings and over 10,000 yards rushing?

Frank Gore led league in facing eight defenders in the box in 2012 - PFF
The 49er Way
If you've missed our tweeting on it, there really was only one contender to this crown and his name was Frank Gore. An astonishing 42.25% of his runs saw him face at least eight defenders in the box, although we'll explain why some of this isn't down to the schemes and offensive formations used by the 49ers.
But for now here's the entire list of rushers with at least 100 designed carries. The league average came out at 23.25%. Stay tuned because tomorrow we're going to add some more data to the mix when we look at how the use of offensive personnel impacts this.

I totally agree that Frank is our stud and at the top of the league in RB talent, but any stat that shows Shonn Greene near the top has something wrong with it. :)

I would go zero coverage against the Jets so this doesn't surprise me, that two Jets RBs are around Gore's Great stat line.

Not to mention, but he played with bad o-lines in the past and still got his thousand+ yards...

Does this take into account the package an offense uses? Guys who play for spread teams are never going to see 8 in the box because there are always 3-4 receivers on the field. Teams that use a lot of jumbo packages like the 49ers are going to see 9-10 guys in the box regularly. I think this probably says more about offensive philosophy and respect for the opposing teams quarterback(Jets) than the quality of the running back.

It doesn't. But Frank has had 8+ in the box his whole career regardless of the formation. That's what makes him that great.
