All I can say as I guy watching on TV from the other side of the continent, the field looked awesome and every shot of the stadium looked great. Think it will be even better when it is on proper FOX/CBS national coverage and not on the local channel with NFL Network sending the feed. The sunday night game under the lights should be incredible, and I hope the crowd is insane.
As much as I love the "magic" of candlestick, I never get to sit in either one and the new stadium seems like a whole new era being ushered in. I remember fondly thinking of Steve Young covered in mud in the NFC Championship games against Dallas and GB, but I have to wonder if they might have gone a little better on the new field that should still be in top notch condition in January. Especially when I expect to see Kap running down the sidelines for the next decade, I don't want there to be any slippery spots!!
Quentin font would be cool, but as I have said before I am much less against the current end zone logos when I realized it was the same font from the SF logo. Looking forward to the red end zones to host the NFC Championship.
Feel terrible for the guy that died, but I can't really believe that the stadium and weather were that big of a factor. If he was at the point where his heart/arteries etc were ready to go then he could have just as easily passed away in his sleep the next day. The fact he was around hundreds of people and the medical experts were able to react quickly probably gave him a better chance than if he had just collapsed on his driveway while heading out to his car.

One thing I noticed about the stadium app was that there was no specialized replay options. You could watch the game feed live, which was about 3 seconds behind the live action, but there was zero replay options available. At the bottom of the main screen there was a link that said "Game Center coming soon", so maybe that's where all that will be in the future, but I was hoping to see all of the things they were advertising with the app.

Yeah...not sure what the hell he's talking about. Are all stadiums supposed to be in domes now?
SC will have some of the most moderate weather in the NFL. What do you think the temperature is in preseason for a Panthers or Chiefs game?
Peeps are used to the cold of Candlestick and think that anything above "f*ck its cold" is dangerously hot. Wear a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen and STFU.

do people not bother to read anymore?
if in future Augusts, the weather can be foreseen to be a concern, simply move it to a later time...they're just preseason games, don't bow to league or network commitments over the safety of fans. and the meek excuse of wanting to "test actual 1pm gametime/crowd/traffic conditions" in light of someone's (likely preventable) death now just falls flat. is the team liable? No. you're right most people should know hot weather safety and preventive measures. But I'm sure there will be warning disclaimers in future for fans if the weather is forecasted to anywhere near what it was today, just to legally cover the teams butt.
Second point: Bay Area summers can last into September, the team can simply request schedule makers to consider more early season night games to alleviate this...does it mean the league will always do it? No.
where did I ever say the Niners should play in a dome? I was merely stating the fact that BECAUSE other parts if the country have regularly unbearable summer weather (southwest & south) many of those teams play in domes..CA is thankfully mainly in a mild zone, but that doesn't mean it isn't immune to occasional heat waves, and since most CA stadia are outdoors & cannot be temp-controlled one may argue when there are high heat conditions the risk is actually greater in SC, OAK, SD than in AZ, TX etc. because the latter are in temp controlled domes...it is on those (I concede RARE) occasions that games should either be postponed or moved to another location (if warranted, as when SD played in AZ that one yr due to a heat wave and fires)

Let's all take deep breaths. No need to get all riled up about stadium talk. AGAIN.

yeahh...see what throwing those two words out flippantly starts?
the fan unfortunately died from a heart attack likely caused by heat STRESS...which can occur if the right combination of age, time in the sun, no wind, not hydrating enough, previous heart condition, etc. even at arguably "bearable" temps of 75-80 degrees
the fact that the AP article said their were multiple calls to local EMS regarding heat casualties bears out that this wasn't some isolated case of an old dude simply fainting from heat and dying...there were others, and not necessarily at the game even

I can relate to the heat thing. 80 is not that hot, but when you are buzzed/drunk/drinking and sitting there baking in the sun around everyone else sitting there baking in the sun, there is a good chance you will get dehydrated. The ones calling EMS are likely the fans who don't go to many ball games, therefore don't understand how sitting in the heat for multiple hours affects your body when intoxicated.
Long story short, if you are sitting in the sun, make sure you drink plenty of water between your beers.

Correct.
That button on the bottom of the app used to say "Coming in August".

MY point is 78 degrees is never too warm to play a game. It's ideal.
As for the time of day, they were simulating a regular season game right down to the start time. I'm sure in later years the start times will be pushed back.

Well...moreover it was probably the fact that the fan was overweight, adding to the fact that he was in the sun AND he was drinking which further dehydrated him.

yeah, it may seem like overreacting, but when someone DIES that tends to elicit that response
the team would of course like to learn their lessons regarding the new digs in a less drastic fashion
here's to no more deaths
