Santa Clara resident here. We get a bay breeze in the late afternoon that rushes thru Santa Clara towards the south. It happens almost every day, summer or fall. It often drops temps quickly. We have a 1pm game on Nov 2 against the Rams, and a bunch of 1:30pm games. High sun with most of the stadium getting direct sunlight. The cooler weather will be welcomed. The bone-chilling dampness that was Candlestick is a thing of the past.
The 5:30pm Chicago Sept 14 game should be comfortable, with maybe a light jacket being necessary. I just checked the sunset time on Sept 14: its 7:17pm. Seats on the east side of the stadium will be staring right into the setting sun, especially on the upper tiers.
I grew up in santa clara and always remember the late afternoon breeze, although it slowed when fall rolled around. One other thing, I was at the game yesterday and it was hotter than 80 in the stands. I think fall in santa clara is when the stadium weather will really be great.
