hate to say it but just put in field turf for this season...

it'll prob take a significant injury before York does so tho

the rainy season (if it ever comes) will only make a patchwork field worse

like the crowd noise from this Mexico-Chile match....
Why couldn't they just install field turf? And before I get the typical "field turf sucks, football should be on real grass, wahh" answers, just think about it. Would turf really be a worse alternative at this point? This field already looks like a dry POS with very little use so far. I mean the season hasn't even began yet...and already there's blotched yellow spots all over the field, players kicking up huge divots of dirt, visible seams everywhere, etc. Can't even imagine what it'll be like after a full football season of use and that's not even counting the other events they'll have in between. I'm praying it doesn't become a safety hazard for players because it very well could be.

Spend $1 billion and have to keep replacing the field every week bruh.

someone want to explain to me the reasoning of why the field has had issues...the science behind it?

Candlesticks grass was looking oh soooooooo good these past 5 years.

what's the issue, the difference? the Santa Clara weather?

it's the same grass company right? so confusing.

They tried to use some new grass initially and it turns out that that grass wasn't a good choice. Now they have switched back to the old grass but they keep having events on it before it gets settled in lol

FieldTurf does have drawbacks such as surface heat and initial cost to install...but many NFL teams use it, fields like CLink and Lucas Oil are highly-rated by players, so obviously there's ways to mitigate the cons. As for the cost, I'm pretty sure the 49ers have already surpassed it being on third iteration of sod, so why not just cut your losses and get the grass figured out later?

Exactly. If they have to keep replacing the field every two weeks, the price to sustain that field will eventually cost far more than it would to install field turf for a season or two.

On the bright side the stadium sounds loud on tv

So it appears they're in the 85th minute of play and the score is 0-0..that's pretty rare in soccer, right?

Which is why I agree with you they should cut bait with the grass for this season and install FieldTurf. Get the grass figured out in the offseason, don't keep trying to do it on the fly.

Yep.

There's chunks of grass everywhere, it looks terrible.

I dont know about you guys, but I don't wanna lose Crabtree or Kaepernick for the year because their cleats got stuck in that f**kin mess.
