that sucks
I just watched the mayor's video addressing the issues with the stadium and management. Most of the complaints are based around revenues promised but not met and the Niners management not being transparent. Those revenues were most likely projections and not firm guarantees. I don't know how you could know for sure how much money you would take in from concerts and things like that.

That's not happening so live with it. I bet Raiders fans would love to have this stadium even with it's faults instead of seeing their team move to Vegas. Remember, that could have been the Niners going to Vegas since SF couldn't come up with a suitable site.

It's funny how we never complained about having to drive from Sunnyvale to the Stick which was a dump but now it's just too far to go the other way. If they start winning everyone will want to go again. The Stick used to get crowds of 35K before Walsh came along and turned things around.

Agreed, especially the bold. Or, besides Vegas, it could have been L.A. as there were rumblings if nothing could get done in the Bay Area (this was well before the Raiders & Chargers considered moving to L.A.).

if that's the case then the city will lose
Why should the 49ers have anything to do with non-NFL events at Santa Clara's stadium?

From what I've read since the stadium has opened it has been one dispute after another. One of the problems is the Santa Clara mayor who wasn't a fan of the stadium project form the start. I know that if the Niners said enough is enough and announced they were moving to? the city would go crazy and announce another lawsuit. The stadium was built with private money so most of this is over taxes and other fees that the city collects. There are still cities that welcome NFL teams and some even foot the bill for the building costs but not so in California.

The city of Santa Clara paid for the stadium, $850 million of it anyway.

Santa Clara wants excessive restrictions yet cries foul when top acts/events don't come to Levi's because of those restrictions. Morons.

Isnt't most of the surrounding area just a business park full of office and commercial buildings? I could understand the restrictions if there was a ton of residential homes, but there isn't, at least I don't recall there being.

Nah they built it right next to some neighborhoods. They have always been told they wouldn't be able to have noise past 10pm which was fine with everybody trying to get the stadium built. Now that it is built I'm sure the 49ers are happy to go back on that agreement.

Says the 10pm is a weekday curfew. What's the weekend curfew? Maybe tell high profile acts they can only perform on the weekends?
Pretty funny that Ed Sheeran's agent told Al Guido to piss off.

Technically the Santa Clara Stadium Authority did this, and they are a separate entity than the city itself.

The taxpayers of Santa Clara financed the stadium.

Definitely not privately financed.

It was a hotel tax, so whether the rank and file residents of Santa Clara paid for it depends on if they decided to spend some time away from home at a local hotel.

The SCSA did use some designated redevelopment funds as well to secure the $850m loan.

From the video and reading more about this, sounds like both parties have some fault. With that said, it appears mayor and city council have exaggerated the issue unnecessarily. Projected revenue vs. actual earnings are different, can't fault a football organization for non-sporting events. Then, pursue a legal battle. Are the city and mayor really victims in all this? Not from my perspective.

I hope that by some miracle the Niners would move back to SF someday. Then, the mayor and city can have an empty stadium all to themselves.

Only about 30 years left on their current deal until that's a possibility. lol

Yeah, sucks that there's issues and it's a lease that spans decades.

I couldn't find any info on costs to break the lease early.
