They should have had someone design a modern stadium for the Santa Clara site rather than repurposing an old design for Candlestick Point.
Props for not further burdening taxpayers for more subsidies.

Hindsight is always 20/20. Nobody in 2012-2013 was thinking that having an open air stadium in Northern California would be an issue. That the stadium got built at all was a bit of a miracle.

I knew it was a terrible idea to recycle the old design.

The open air aspect is not an issue IMO.

The Warriors and Giants had no problems building their privately financed stadiums. The 49ers wanted and got massive handouts from Santa Clara.
more BS, you do know MLB and NBA doesn't have the same revenue sharing as the NFL right ?

meaning those teams can finance stadiums themselves.. imagine the 49ers having 40 to 80 home games a season and collecting that money

So stadiums lose money?
Wasn't SOFI was privately funded?
lose money ? this has nothing to do with Sofi..

this looks like an attempt to digress

What was your point about number of games? Of NFL stadiums are profitible, teams should finance them on their own or with the NFL not with taxpayers.

Not all NFL owners are alike in finances and actually need help. Especially in the Bay Area (see Raiders)

As for games, you don't think more games create more revenue ?
I'm so confused as to why they need to put another $120 million into the stadium. I read the article and obviously Jed dodged answering that specific question, so can anyone say what still needs to happen?

I don't get it. Still seems pretty of state if the art to me when we go

not sure which article you read but the one that i read listed the upgrades. The upgrades listed doesn't seem to cost as much as they are asking so i'm hoping for the shade project to happen.

They are trying to get another SB, so a covering would help

So the 49ers can't be profitible without taxpayer assistance? I am not buying that.

According to a 49ers spokesperson, this will be a $125 million project that will first involve renovation of Levi's Stadium Suites, then the Niners will look to upgrade video boards to enhance the fan experience.

San Francisco 49ers to borrow $125 million for Levi's Stadium upgrades - ABC7 San Francisco (abc7news.com)

another poster posted renderings from a company that the 49ers contacted in the past about making shade and the same suite upgrades noted in the latest news.

Shade is not a sure thing and i'm just hoping it's part of the new upgrades

Why do you think they need help?
cover would not help get a superbowl. The weather is not an issue that time of the year.Originally posted by 49AllTheTime:
