How do you teach "tough minded football" ?

I'm not sure what it is or how you teach it, but I hope it works (whatever it is)...

It would be nice to have a winning season for once.
Sing's approach does two things. It makes the tough that much tougher and exposes the weak links for what they are. Over time we will field a team of tough minded "winners" and weed out the losers.
You make the players believe that they are doing this for a reason more than money! Make sure they understand that you have their backs when the going gets tough and they will do whatever you want them to do.Tough minded has nothing to do with working them to death. All athletes at that level are tough! Even Kwame manhandled a lot of players getting to the league

"Tough minded football" sure sounds good, doesn't it? It's a phrase that people will buy into right away without stopping to actually consider what the hell it means. Sing comes in here and throws around phrases like that and "physical with an F" in order to create buy-in. He's a motivational speaker, He's going to say what he thinks you need to hear. What you need to do is pay attention to his actual football moves. When you dispense with all the hot air, you're going to find that he hasn't done one impressive thing yet. His hires have been borderline atrocious. His handling of the recent OTA's was over the top ridiculous.

"Tough minded football", wow, what team doesn't want to be tough? Seriously, this is the NFL. Being tough is a basic requirement of NFL existence, it's not a unique philosophy that Sing just invented. "Tough minded football" is just a smokescreen that provides cover for absolute organizational randomness.

you make sure Alex Smith is on the bench
First things first, you have to be tough in order to teach tough

It is really quite simple, you make practice harder than the actual games, then you have a tough team.I think Singletary will work our roster until they are one of the toughest rosters in the NFL.There are gonna be teams this year that are gonna be in for a shock when they line up against us this year.

I agree...there's not much difference in athleticism between every team in the NFL. There's a lot more parity in that regard that people think IMO. I'm completely on board with Sing's sense of urgency in every practice because it turns a near win into a near loss when the season rolls around.

Dunno about you, but i would want the practices to turn the near losses into near wins instead.

Bill, you sayin Alex isn't tough?I mean come on,he might not be your choice to start at qb,but you are reaching now. After what that kid has been through and the heart he showed trying to play with an injury like he had.Not to mention all the hits he has taken behind the crappy offensive line he had to play behind for his early career.Say he has no skills if you honestly believe that, but don't say the kid is soft,it only hurts your credibility when you try to make a valid point.

Are you going to stop this BS if/when they start winning? Or do we have to listen to this crap for the whole season? I have to say, I'm tired of it already.
