If the 49ers fail this year Scotty will be fired and replaced by Holmgren. Depending on how Singletary does, Holmgren may bring in his own head coach like Shanahan or Gruden. I think if we struggle this year and don't make the playoffs then I would fire Scotty and bring in Holmgren to be a Parcells like figure. He should clean up the front office and coaching staff and draft a QB in the first round next year to build around. If Singletary struggles I would pull the trigger and even name him Head Coach and GM just like they did with Bill Walsh in 1979,

It's the ultimate team sport. It's never just one thing, but I would say that if they can't mount a pass rush, we'll see the same kind of defense - pretty good, not great. Then, of course, everyone second-guesses the brain trust's decision to go with what we've got instead of getting somebody in the draft, etc. etc. so Scott and Singletary will be held responsible for that kind of failure and that would be fair.

I guess Im the only one who see a 6-10 or 8-8 team at best? Stale Off Coordinator, no pass rush and light in the ass LBs doesnt sound good. How in the hell can you find these undersized LBs and DEs and not have a pass rush. Teams would run all over them but its so asy to pass because there is no rush. Bottom 5 D + Bottom 10 Off = Losing season.

well since the 49ers gave up 55 sacks last year i think alot of the pressure is going to lay on the O-line

So you think the defense is gonna regress from 13th to below 27th?What do you base this on?Your post is silly, this team will be better on defense this year,if not overall better.

I base it on the much easier schedule they had last year compared to this year.

I choose the offensive line which relates to both the running & passing game. 110 sacks over the last 2 years probably the worst in the NFL. Martz & Sullivan are most to blame for last year but this unit must be better than the previous years.

The 49ers won't fail this season.
Therefore, the answer is none. None group.
