Are you ok with Sing holding off practices for Team Building meetings?

It makes sense to me. I think a lot of times, they waste a lot of the day just figuring out where they are supposed to be and what they are supposed to do. I've read a lot of that. ESPECIALLY with new coaches. The players need to know what to do. I think this makes it more effecient. I think Sing is doing LESS practices, but the ones he is doing is WAY more intense and effecient. Hope it plans out

I think it also tells professional athletes to check their ego at the door.

___________ is what Singletary expects you to do and if you don't do that, you are going to get an earful, or sent to the locker room early

Both of these posts are very good. We saw it last year when they ran lots of plays in practice but would not re-run any (most) that were not done correctly. What Coach is doing is letting everyone know what is going on first so when they step on the pratice field they will not be wasteing time or reps. It is the basis of The Art of War . The commander is responsible for giving clear instructions and being sure they are understood, then they are the responsibility of the subbordinates to carry out.
This team has new coaches, another new system, (some) new players, and a (recent) history of not being very good. Under Nowin, Sing saw how not to do it. Now, we are seeing what he has learned.

I wonder what he is going to say to the QBs when they are talking about specific roles ???

He needs an extra day to practice dropping his pants.

In addition, he needs one more day to give the team that stare. Afterwards, they will all become Pro-Bowlers.

Correction. This just in: He needs to take Friday off to go stare at Eugene Parker. Because, as you know, once he stares at you, mountains move, the planets in the Milky Way align, dogs and cats embrace each other, Jews and Muslims begin holding hands. World peace emerges across the globe. At one glance of Singletary, Parker will be having Crabtree work for minimum wage. And then...... Crabtree will really begin to cry.

Why not give him the extra day? The universe is begging for it.

Sorry, next time I'll add Singletary calling for a jihad against Parker. My bad.

or you could add that he has to take the day off to make sure he buys all the remaining Vikings Brett Farve jerseys that are scattered around the internet.

But can Sing get us health care reform?
eh, it's not a big deal. However, with a new system on both sides of the ball, it IS critical that everyone know what they should be doing before going onto the field. To spend all the energy and risk injury without being fully confident of what you should be doing, would be a waste.

At each step, from OTAs, to TC, to pre-season games, there is a steady escalation. A strong performance on the field is limited to knowing where to be and when to be there. Bill Walsh spent a great deal of time in the classroom making certain players knew what THEY should be doing in each situation. Singletary spent a good deal of time with Walsh in the past and may well be doing this in reflection of what Walsh taught him.

I voted for option #3.

Singfan? Is that you?
Coach Singletary has us headed in the right direction
I wonder if Sing is thinking about banning Tweeting? $10 says he brings up twitter in one of his many days of meetings.
He also said they will be practicing in Pads twice a day. I don't know if my memory is hazy but I recall most teams only go full Pads once a day during the two-a-days.
you can't just throw them out their with out a plan! just like businesses or goals. you have to get your team together. set goals, make a plan to reach those goals then send them out into the workfield! only true business men and masterminds plan each step before taking action!

I can just imagine the meetings:

Sing: Don't make me look bad out there!!!! OK, at 9:30 we are sprinting to get water. At 9:40 we are sprinting to our stations! At 10:00 we are all going to drop down and do 50 push-ups!!!

Player A: Well, at least this year, we don't need to lie to the press about tempo.
