I will be the first to admit that I jumped up and down when I heard that Crabtree had fallen to the 9ers. But at this point I say F- him. If he wants to hold out to get more money because he is "more talented" then some that were drafted before him. Oh well, lets see how that works for you next year when, if he makes it back into the draft, he isnt picked until late in the first round or maybe even second. There are 3 top-tier QB's coming out, a handful of OL and DL, not to mention a second handful of RB's that will be taken in the first round. Why should Crabtree be paid more then Bolden when he hasnt even taken a snap in the NFL as of yet. I would still love to see him lace up his cleats and run out on the field wearing the red and gold but this is starting to sound a lot like another WR we once had. Maybe Bruce should give up his 81 number for Crabtree, that would show his true character up til this point.
Hey Meat get on the field and play!

@MadDog49er: some facts you want...
parker is one of the most successful agents in nfl history. it did not save him from ridiculing himself in this case.
first his demand for top 5 money leaks out, and that was even before dhb singed his contract with the raiders. and now his threat leaks out. right now he denies it publicly, but it's pretty obvious to me, that he's in damage control mode right now.
threatening someone in a "contract negotiation" (and we're talking about sports not the mafia) is unprofessional. threatening someone with an empty threat in a "contract negotiation" is dumb. and the threat is indeed empty. unfortunately for crabtree he will surely not be selected in the first round in next year's draft, and unfortunately this means that he would not get the money the 9ers are offering right now. thus, it is absolutely crystal clear that crabtree will never ever sit out the entire season, because he will get a smaller contract if he does, and he doesn't get any money now.
now we've gone full circle back to my initial opinion that parker is ridiculing himself. he brings empty threats to the table, effectively weakening his position in the "contract negotiation" by admiting that he's got nothing left but empty threats (because now he has already gone to the limit by saying his client won't play, if he doesn't get what he wants, and as we know, crabtree will not sit out the whole year) and giving the 9ers every reason to stand firm.
in the end crabtree will get a contract with guarantees in about dhb's range and some escalator which could take the contract higher. i'm sure that this could have been done one day after dhb signed, if parker had really wanted that. he brought negative publicity to his agency instead. and we all know why agents are driving insane right now (uncapped season...).
parker simply messed up.

Since Crabtree's agent finally spoke up, maybe he and the team will get back to the table and get this done.

Not to mention MM points out that Wells is a former bodyguard of Pac Man Jones and Michael Irvin, so he probably could advise Crabtree on which are the best strip clubs and crack houses in any given area. Things just keep getting better.

Not sure if it has been mentioned in these 20 pages (don't have time to read them all but didn't see it in the 5 pages that I read), but beyond the fact that he would fall below the top 10 in next year's draft and cost himself money is this point:
It is practically a given that there will be a rookie salary cap in the new CBA. From most of the articles I have read, the owners want it badly, and the union doesn't seem to oppose it. So it is very likely that whoever is drafted at #10 next year will make less than half of what the #10 pick should make this year. In fact, if I had to guess, I would say that the #1 pick in next year's draft won't make what the Niners are offering Crabtree to sign this year. So holding out would make absolutely ZERO sense if his motivation is money.
If he has no desire to play for the 49ers, that's a different story, but that's not what these articles are saying. Either way, as has already been mentioned, the Niners hold all of the cards here and have no reason to move from their offer.

DHB got $38M over 5yrs., just give Crabtree something similar. Wouldn't $35M over 5 yrs. do it. If not, the guy is a greedy b*****d and I don't want him on our team.

Maybe this could be a good thing in the negotiations. Maybe both sides see that this thing could get ugly if both don't compromise on this thing.

I have to laugh every time I read an article that says David Wells advisor/cousin. What a joke! I think that Crabtree has been watching Entourage a little too much.

"We are prepared to do it," Wells said.
We? Last time I checked the 49ers drafted Michael Crabtree, not his cousin!

Maybe since Tyson Jackson(Parker's other client) is now signed, talks will resume.

Or better yet, not have one.
