At the very least though....Alex should be starting though, he showed that today, and I think the spread offense suits him well...we should go with something that fits our personnel better rather than try to force an identity that we can't really match.

Forget smashmouth...and play to our strengths. With Crabs out there, and Smith having at least a legit NFL arm, a wide open set works for us.

Next week is also going to be ugly....so don't call for Smith's head if we lose badly on that one. Our defense has no chance against Peyton.

This team WILL make the playoffs with Alex Smith starting. That is guaranDAMNteed. I will put money on it.

Hey can't blame him fo that,

Lets see... Delay of game then Alex overthrew which = a pick. So, yes I can blame him for that...

Wow. Just wow.

Are you saying that didn't just happen? Get real dude...

Your willful ignorance and refusal to look at the big picture is amusing

Please help enlighten me... Whats the big picture?
I'm not crowning Smith just yet. Let's see what he can do when a defense is prepared for him, and not in prevent mode.

That being said I think the one thing we did learn today is fix the line, find a qb and our offense is set.

I'm soooooo tired of hearin people say well we have stuff to improve upon and we lost but I see alot Of potential going foward how many times do we gotta say that who cares what improved we lost the freakin game! It's time 4 us to win period!!!

If Smith had been starting from the get go, we would have won this game. So we did learn something today, Smith is a real NFL qb, and Hill is a real back up. Now we can go out there and field a team that can move the ball. This game should shut all the ignorant people that thought Hill was the better QB the hell up. It wasn't the play calling, it wasn't the wideouts, it was a qb with no ability to stretch the field.

Ok so ur saying the mike and raye are ignorant for stickin with hill And this also
proves that our coach dosnt know s**t right
Battle cost us the game

Smith comes in, and somehow magically we only allow 3 points. Smith comes in, and all of a sudden Jimmy Raye's playbook was multipled by 100... Smith comes in and Vernon Davis gets 1/3 of his Career TDs in one half.

SMITH IS THE FUTURE

You had me fooled bro I was about to hate on you but I finished reading oyur post and I agree and lets roll with it.................lets upset the COLTS BABY......of course we have to play better D
U gotta start Alex. This kid has finally approved.

Very proud of the 49ers today. The outcome was disappointing but at least I know we have a qb in Alex smith

agreed

I dont want to be a downer

but it was one game against a bad defense

lets see how he does next week before we crown him

That is not a bad defence. It may not be the Steelers, but they have some ability

3 TDs and comeback in second half > pick in last 30 secs on fourth and long.

You have been enlightened as to the big picture.

Its the same defense Hill was playing against, and Smith looked like an all-pro in comparison. I don't want to jump to conclusions either, but one thing can no longer be argued. Smith >>>>>> Hill
I have said from the begining our Qb answer is at Smith.

Now I dont want to hear the bench Smith crap after the Inndy game

I see it the same way. Get a lot of grief, here, from certain posters for it.

I'd also add the secondary in with that pass rush. The 49ers have serious issues on defense. They keep giving up 20+ pts in the first half, even Crabtree would not fill that gap, along with Davis, Bruce, Morgan, Gore, Walker - and Smith.

D puts this team in too much of a hole.

And what is a bye-week for - if not to fix what's wrong? It's like these coaches don't know their own team. Fix the D. Get IT right. SOLID D. Then worry about the offense.

It was the same D Hill played against in the 1st half.

One game against a bad defense? And what did Hill do against that bad defense? I mean, if you're an NFL QB, you SHOULD at least do well against bad defenses, right? So that's a start.
