Are we practicing with them this week? Seems weird to practice with the team you're playing against

Our playoff chances start with that and although its just the 1st preseason game its a good start.

Yup, yup and with the addition of Bly and with Goldson now at FS and the fact the players WILL BE IN POSISTION to be able to cause turnovers, I see our takeaways going up by a huge margin. I can see Bly and Goldson ending up with 5-7 INT's EACH this season. Im just hoping Tarrell Brown's toe problem is not a year long problem because our depth at cornerback is very, very shaky.
I thought all of Frank Gore's potential backups looked pretty sorry. None of them looked better than DeShaun Foster or Michael Robinson to me.

Pass protection did not look great against vanilla defense. Wallace looked like he got steamrolled.

Lawson did not show anything new. He looked like the same guy we've seen, for good or for bad.

If there is still any question about who our starting QB is, I would be shocked. Hill looked solid.

Dre Bly is a starter . . .

VD had a couple of great grabs . . . love it when the ball is in his hands in space.

McKillop looked ok, but got burned over the middle by a T.E.

Overall I thought the team looked pretty similar to last year. I hope with improved play calling/coaching/game management the close games fall our way rather than the way they went last year.
I would also add in Justin Roland was pretty active, Ricky Jean-Francois had a solid game and I would add some good things about Coffee...He has good vision, hits the hole hard and shows good cut back ability. I just worry he doesen't have much of a burst.

I agree about, Coffee, he did not blow me away but he did look solid and I think Kory Sheets can give us a spark in the running game.

I thought our defense was very vanilla but Nolan brought a lot of pressure with the Broncos D and some of their defensive starters were still in the game late in the 3rd quarter.

Our first string O-Line did a very nice job in pass protection, our 2nd unit, not so much. Marvel Smith played well but Joe Toledo and Cody Wallace got abused and Barry Sims, well he's Barry Sims.

McKilliop will always be a liability in pass coverage but he will make a ton of tackles. Im not sure he is a starter in this league but he should be a very nice backup/ST's guy. I agree Bly is a starter but we need Tarrell Brown as our 3rd corner.

Lawson did show a little more awarness out there when he was stonewalled but yeah he did not get much of a pass rush.

But Manusky was very vanilla with the D, I think he is saving it for AZ....
Lol I can't get enough of the over reaction. I agree Alex wasn't amazing. But Ill bet anything that if Shaun did what Alex did none of you guys would be this reactionary. It would have been "same ok Alex only leads us to a FG and holds the ball too long gets sacked. I know I saw VD wide open dood."

This is never ending. I can't wait until the coaches just decide on someone so we can stop having this stupid debate.

And of course Huard looked "better." Derrrr he has 13 years of experience. WTF did you expect?

I agree, while Coffee did not blow my socks off he did show more in one game than Foster did all of last year. I think he will be solid and I am excited about Kory Sheets.

And he played against 2nd and 3rd stringers lol

That was a little disturbing to see our #3 QB have a better outing than Smith and Hill. I know Huard was playing against 2nd and 3rd string defenses but he looked he knew what he was doing out there.

Huard was playing against 3rd stringers.....Also, he had 3rd stringers on his O, too. We just ran the ball with him in there, and then he hit a couple of passes in the flat, on the crossing routes.

Thats what happens in PRESEASON in the 2nd half with a vet with 13 years of experience.

lol even then it won't stop. When one of them messes up there will be some people that say man we should have chosen the other guy instead.

I disagree bro, COffee looks better than robinson, and eventhough on a rew runs sheets went down early, on some he put his head down and ended up coming out a hole on the other side..

sheets looks better than coffee. IMO

It's easier for me not to drown when I'm in the shallow end of the pool.

Seriously man it's like a broken record. No matter what Smith does it's just "he sucks." I almost don't want him to be our QB because every fkin week it will be the same drivel. They'll analyze his every throw and what his left leg was doing and how a WR had to adjust etc etc. I'd rather let Shaun start so we can have civilized discussions again. Let another team deal with Alex-gate.

At least if Shaun sucks everyone will still find the positives and move on. Alex? People are still hung up on his college coaches quote from nearly 5 years ago.

That play was great. Morgan likely had the option to go a couple different ways on the that route depending on what the DB (Bailey) did.

Doubtful because if I recall correctly, Smith threw the ball before Morgan even made his break. It looked like a timed route in which Morgan was to comeback on the inside, which is what he did, but Smith threw the ball right towards Bailey and Morgan made a great play. If Morgan had options, then Smith shouldn't have fired the ball before he made a break because Morgan could have chosen to break outside and that would have resulted in a pick (maybe even a pick-6). I'm pretty sure it was a planned route though.

Just because it's an option route doesn't mean that you can hold teh ball until he makes the break, because it's already too late at that point. An option route doesn't mean that the WR has an option to run whatever route he wants, he has to read the defense and run the route that is required agaisnt that defense, and Smith had the same read to make. Also, if the trun as to the outside, then Morgan must have broke the laws of physics and teleported himself to the other side of bailey, because he was there just after turning around, he turned tot he inside. The play was great.

You are right, that was a great play by Smith and Morgan.Too bad some of these jackasses are so biased against Smith that their pride will not allow them to acknowledge it.Keep on speaking the truth Boomer, even if these biased fools are too blind to see.I keep seeing all this criticism of Smith, but last night Hill was also holding the ball too long and staring down receivers, but these guys that root for a single player over the team are never gonna admit it.If Hill had made the same play it would have been a brilliant masterpiece and something that Smith could never do.Sometimes I wonder if these guys can even see the truth,or if they are so blinded by hate for Smith that they would rather him fail than to have him be successful and help the team, which is the best possible scenario for the team.
