No one wants the 49ers to win this game more than I do! I'm from South Jersey (Eagles country) and most of my friends and family are Eagles fans.
They're already talking s**t to me.

Wow. Check out there little intro animation on the Eagles webpage.
We better come swinging. The Eagles always torch us. Even when we are good ('94 season). I really want to win this game cause I can't remember the last time we beat the Eagles.
wow lol, i saw that, they're trying to play us, i wonder what player that was supposed to be chasing jackson?
Probably the man we took in the draft instead of D Jackson. We all know who that is.

we can't give up easy screen plays and those stupid little shovel passes that turn into 30 yard gains.
Also, he if gets any extended amount of time he will launch one to Desean Jackson who will be wide open.
and we need to finish every tackle, and I mean ALL of them.

yes i'm always a homer, but i think we have a REAL good chance at winning this game. the eagles offense is built off speed and our defense is one of the quickest in the league. with westbrook and maclin out, it helps our secondary shut down d-jax and focus on their backups. isn't celek out as well ? this game is on smith's shoulders, we shall see if he is the real deal.

im still confused with all the playoff standings and scenarios
but i was doing some Yahoo Playoff Scenario thing on yahoosports.com
and u pick whos going to win each game from here to week 17
and i picked niners over eagles..and it put us at the wild card with that win...
because dallas probably will lose...
is that right???
us winning
dallas losing...puts us as first place wild card?? or second place??

1) Statistically, the Eagles are a top 10 run defense...but they consistently were beaten up inside by the Giants running game. Their ends are top flight...but their tackles are marginal at best.
2) The Eagles have very pedestrian defensive backs. Their safety play was so-so last week, and their corners...including Asante Samuel...are good, but unspectacular. They will have to run the nickel all day if they want to cover Vernon Davis.
3) The Eagles pass rush is nothing special. If they gear up to stop the run, they will be VERY vulnerable in the air. Look for the Eagles to try blitzing...a lot...out of their big sub look.
Some things the Niners MUST do to win:
1) Set the edge on defense...force their tackles to take their first step back and wide...this will force McCoy (and Vick, on occasion) inside, which is right where we want them...and where Patrick Willis and Takeo Spikes want them too.
2) Give their wide outs a consistent diet of press coverage. McNabb relies on timing to hit his guys...especially DeShaun Jackson. This will allow Goldson to do what he does best...headhunt.
3) Give the Eagles a steady diet of Frank Gore, with some play action to Vernon Davis on the side. Their defense cannot stop Davis if they play base...this will work wonders for Frank...especially if we run play action passes that isolate their DBs. This will end up giving Frank the kind of room he had last Monday night.
The game is far from a shoo in...and the Niners will have to contend with a very loud crowd, a cross country flight, and inclement weather...but they are far from out of it if they play the way they did Monday night.
It's all very true, specially the bit about their linebackers/secondary getting shredded by the 'TE' position.
CASE IN POINT: Oakland's win over Philly in week 6.
Zach Miller (who's probably Oakland's most consistent receiving threat) put up 168 receiving yards, 6 receptions, 86 combined YAC, and TD. -And all the balls thrown to Miller were from JAMARCUS RUSSELL!

Now here's the funny part, Philly pretty much planned their entire defensive scheme around Miller in the passing game, and they were torched horribly on even the most obvious plays!

There are in the top best tandems in the league. They both are in the top 15 in pass defended and are both in the top 10 in interceptions. What they do not have is a 3rd CB. There 3rd CB is Joselio Hanson who once played for the 49ers in 2004. Hanson spent most of last week trailing receivers and was forced to make a lot of tackles. They run a 4-3 defense with a suspect MLB. The best thing to do is to force the ball down there throats. Runs up the middle (DT have 1 tackle for loss between the both of them). There DEs make most of there plays in the run and in the pass.

Well they have speed at positions where the 49ers don't. I would like to see Terrel Brown in press coverage on Jackson . Leonard Weaver will be somebody who the 49ers will have to watch as well. He torched the 49ers when he played for Seattle last year.

Why am I seeing a lot of folks wanting to press Jackson? That's just asking to get burned if you whiff on the jam.... He's the one guy who's speed they should respect and give a cushion to.
