according to their overall position ranks.

but they take about everything into account. according to their numbers, Vernon Davis is listed as the 53rd best TE this year, because while his TD's and yardage are amazing, hes been so awful at run blocking, and committing penalties, his value based on what his position is supposed to do is apparently very poor.

VD has committed a NFL high 11 penalties this year among TE, which is also the highest total by any offensive player in the NFL, not including OL.

obviously i think thats a load of crap, since what hes done for our offense greatly outweighs his poor blocking and penalties, but from a statistical point of view, he isnt a prototypical all around TE.

How has he gone from one of the best blocking TE in the league (according to Sing last year) to one of the worst. Doesn't make sense.

apparently he was never the best blocking TE in the league. in 07 his run blocking was poor and his pass blocking average, in 08 his run blocking was good, and his pass blocking got better up to average, now in 09 his run blocking has been awful, his pass blocking is average again.

so the rumor that he was anything better than an average pass blocking TE, or anything better than an awful run blocking TE, was a myth.

and hes led the NFL in penalties committed by a TE in 2007, 2008, and now 2009. a whopping 25 penalties in 44 games.

come on VD....youre KILLING us with the penalties. 25 penalties since 07, the 2nd closest to him on the team is Staley with 11, and he hasnt made 1 yet this season. VD has 11 this season alone.

Not big on player jerseys since guys change teams so much, but i'm really tempted to get a Willis jersey.

same here. I'm convinced the niners will lock him up for the majority of his career. He'll also go on to be a niner great.

I don't think there's any doubt they'll try to lock him up, but that doesn't mean he'll be resigning with us. As I recall he wasn't interested in an extension last year, and as the best defensive player in the NFL, there's nothing stopping one of the dysfunctional teams (thinks Redskins, Cowboys, Raiders) from throwing him an insane amount of money that nobody else can match. Of course, if he's not motivated entirely by money, there's also the chance that he'd rather go to a contender. Not saying that either of these are the case or that we wouldn't franchise him, just that it's more complicated than us merely wanting him an offering him a fair or even good contract.

Those stats sound ridiculous. No way was TKO better than Willis last season.

And Vernon is the best blocking tight end in the league.
And Vernon is the best tight end in the league.
Fixed!

Noone helps their team more. I wonder how we could vote him in. Is it possible?
profootballfocus is stupid. And according to it Roman is the teams best safety by a mile. There are about a million other problems with the list that it creates at each position.
Tiko and willis are number 1 and 2 on that list. hell yeah!

It sucks that hes not even in conversation for DPOY. watching all the pregame shows they ask that question and their 4 choices were Sharper, Woodson, Dumervile, and Revis. Sucks that our record affects his chances
MAN, HE EVEN ROCKS PINK GLOVES AND LOOKS BAD ASS!!

theyre purely stats. they dont take into account some things are more important than others. like VD having 12 TD's to match his 12 drops, or his 11 penalties.

but unfortunately, stats dont lie, and the stats say VD's run blocking is awful, and his pass blocking is average at best for his position.

It's not purely stats. They watch every play of every game. I'll trust them over some biased poster on Ninertalk.

And btw, if Roman was a starter, his effectiveness would go down. Considering that he doesn't have the same responsibilities that a starter would.
