profootballfocus is stupid. And according to it Roman is the teams best safety by a mile. There are about a million other problems with the list that it creates at each position.

theyre purely stats. they dont take into account some things are more important than others. like VD having 12 TD's to match his 12 drops, or his 11 penalties.

but unfortunately, stats dont lie, and the stats say VD's run blocking is awful, and his pass blocking is average at best for his position.

It's not purely stats. They watch every play of every game. I'll trust them over some biased poster on Ninertalk.

And btw, if Roman was a starter, his effectiveness would go down. Considering that he doesn't have the same responsibilities that a starter would.

the point is they can poke holes in VD all day because of poor blocking, drops, and penalties, but in the end, hes a 1000 yd TE with 12 TD's, which is definitely better than 53rd overall among TE's.

what it means is, VD shouldve had an even bigger season than his current numbers, but his poor fundamentals stunted it. when you drop 12 balls, thats good for at least 100 yds and maybe a TD or 2 off your totals.

with stats, you have to know when to consider them, and when they might not make much sense to apply.

Not big on player jerseys since guys change teams so much, but i'm really tempted to get a Willis jersey.

same here. I'm convinced the niners will lock him up for the majority of his career. He'll also go on to be a niner great.

I don't think there's any doubt they'll try to lock him up, but that doesn't mean he'll be resigning with us. As I recall he wasn't interested in an extension last year, and as the best defensive player in the NFL, there's nothing stopping one of the dysfunctional teams (thinks Redskins, Cowboys, Raiders) from throwing him an insane amount of money that nobody else can match. Of course, if he's not motivated entirely by money, there's also the chance that he'd rather go to a contender. Not saying that either of these are the case or that we wouldn't franchise him, just that it's more complicated than us merely wanting him an offering him a fair or even good contract.

Why would you want to sign an extension with three Pro-Bowls under your belt when you can wait two years and sign one with five Pro-Bowls? Those extra two Pro-Bowls will make you millions of dollars more than you otherwise would've.
I wish we more Patrick Willis type of players on the team.

It would not surprise me in the least that the main reason Willis didn't go for an extension was simply because he didn't feel it was necessary to do so. You know "I already have a contract, I already make lots of money, more money than I ever dreamed of making..I just want to play ball and get better...I plan on staying here even when my contract is up....as long as you guys will let me stay...let's just forget about this until later when my contract is up, then I'll sign a new one."

Too bad he's only a MLB.
I just hope he doesn't leave when his contract is up. He is going to be the top paid LB in the league wherever he goes.

I got one, I think he's safe he's not going anywhere
Tied for 3rd in solo tackles, 16th combined. What does that tell that tell you about his play?
his knee still hurts. It was hard to watch Jackson and McCoy beat him and turn the corner on Sunday.
