The only positive from this is Eagles fans won't fill up the Stick. Last few times they've played in SF they have come out in full force and been louder than 9er fans. What I want to know is if the NFL wants to promote the game overseas, why send the 49ers? Are they hoping to cater to the soccer fans by sending a team that has the best punter in the league?

The 49ers are probably one of the top 5 supported UK sides behind Patriots and alongside the Dolphins, Bears, Redskins, Raiders, Cowboys and Packers.

Anyone who was any good in the 80's would be strongly represented here which was when we first started to see the game screened on TV.

If it was the 49ers Cowboys, Wembley would be 50/50 split, no question. With the Eagles, there's a good chance we can turn it into a home game, we need you Bay Area guys here in force to make it happen though.

You are now in charge of the crowd like that fireman fan in the NY Jets stadium. Make sure the fans get buck wild in there !

Even Springsteen couldn't make London fans go wild!

London fans are too busy getting pissed on Fosters and thinking it's cool to do a (Mexican) "Wave"

What's wrong with a "Mexican" wave?!?!? And who told you it originated in Mexico?

Origins of the Wave

In fact, you wont live a true fan experience until you go to a Mexican soccer game! Think of a college Football game X5!

Viva Mexico Cabrones!!!

How can I put this? When London does a Mexican Wave it lacks the Latin American exuberance. It's like 50,000 people just noticed their Aunt Dorothy over the other side and are waving at her. It lacks the orgasmic quality of the original.

Although we had some fun doing it at the London Monarchs WLAF home games.
so do us season ticket holders get charged the same? Or do they only charge us for 7 home games?
It's pretty obvious why the Niner's head-management wanted this game in London. Less money for SF who isn't helping out at all for our new stadium. Kind of a sneaky, back-stabbing move, but makes sense to me.
York's just need to sell this team.

I think it's the same price i'm sure the owner's aren't shippign there teams out if they are losing money.

They need to get a new stadium, if they don't get it in Santa Clara the whole stadium thing and relocation is going to be a huge distraction for the 2010 season

Its not even about the stadium. The biggest problem is they dont hire the right people to run the football side.

I asked this on page 1 and still do not have a solid answer.

I could see them offering us a ticket to the game in Jolly Old, but that is WEAK. They should reduce the season ticket price by 10%.

Sweet, I could go to London and watch a 49ers game and an Arsenal game in the same weekend.

Done at the right time, in the right place, absolutely no qualms at all with a "Mexican Wave/Wave" but in previous "home" games at Wembley the home side has had to put up with raucous idiots doing it whilst the "home" team are on offense, when if anybody who knows anything about football should know, when the home team is on O, you generally keep reasonably quiet to an acceptable level, hence "Shh, Offense at work" on countless Jumbotrons across America.

And I'm not getting into a Mexican Wave debate again, did all that last year and the year before, it's just how it's known here in the UK, some people over there are way too sensitive about it and need to get a life. It's not derogatory and nor is it offensive.

/rant over! Thanks for listening!

Joking
Shoot, i guess i am exact opposite of you guys..

I have never been overseas.. I am soo getting my passport, and saving up now for this game just in case it happens.

I am pretty sure you will only be charged for 9 games instead of 10 with this game since they have their own stadium and seats to sell.

Our away schedule this year is, KC, 3 div opponents, SD, Carolina, Atlanta and Green Bay again since we finished in this same spot in the division as them. Had the eagles won this weekend it would have been the 49ers and Cowboys over there. I think is what the NFL wanted lol 2 of the biggest marketed teams. But then again im kinda hoping for that game at Canton this year. All i know is i am going to this game. It would be insane minus the 11 hr flight eeeeeee. Most i have been on a plane was 9 to hawaii from dallas. But Wooooo still excited, sorry i am one of the only few.
I actually had a chat with one of our TV presenters of American Sports and Poker about this yesterday, check it out here:
