This is disappointing. They had an opportunity to really hit a home run(1994 throws). I'd rather remain with no alternate jerseys then have something that just forced. There is absolutely no need for a black jersey set.

Hell its probably like taking games in London, if you let Nike go full retard on an alternate the league makes it worth your while. Funny thing is, I believe teams aren't allowed to wear Alts in prime time games. So basically these black jerseys would need to be worn in a Sunday day game. Nothing like being forced to wear black in a stadium that by all reports is a lot hotter than the stick.

hope they have medics in the area. All the fans in those new black jerseys gonna be passing out in the scorching 75 degree heat.

Also the process to get another jerseys takes years to happen. How much you want to bet Harbs had a hand in this process earlier on and this new alt plays on his old sideline attire.


Black works as an accent color with our scheme, not a primary. The 1994 set worked because the drop shadow and pant stripe was off set by the white pants. This is the same reason the 1996 & 97 worked with the invading black. From 1998 until 2008, the black did nothing more than make the set look very drab.

I guess 1994 inspired ones just made too much sense. I mean you wouldn't want to honor a look of our most recent title. Also that look is heavily based on our 50s look (million dollar backfield, alley oop, etc...). It would have been killing two birds with one stone.

Not a big deal either way since they will probably only wear them once or twice a year. For those that like them you can go spend more money on all the jerseys and gear and those that don't like them don't have to buy anything. I'd be fine with 1994's, the silver/red 60's or the black. If it's black I'd prefer some gold in there though, not just all black jerseys and pants with red numbers. The only thing you can count on is it will make somebody not happy. It happens with every draft pick or signing as well. One group loves them, the next says they are ok and the other hates them.

49ers arent the only one doing this, other teams this year are getting alternates and most are throwback type this year
