thats because the Rams alternates are throwbacks. Just like when we wore our throwbacks in the '00-2010s we had different helmets.
To add a completely new helmet would mean creating an entirely new uniform, not just an alternate. Think about every team that has throwbacks as alternates, and every team who doesn't have throwbacks as alternates, the throwbacks always have the throwback helmet (Bears, GB, Dallas, ATL, Rams, Pats etc.).. teams who have regular alternates have the same helmets (SEA, AZ, Carolina, Eagles, Ravens, Titans, etc.)
It's illegal in the league to create a new helmet just for alternates if its not gonna be A. the default helmet or B. a throwback helmet.

That actually looks like a professional quality alternate.
That looks good but again it's against the rules to touch the helmets for alternates

This. While the helmet itself can't change, a team has free-reign with decals. The Packers are a good example. When they rock those hideous ACME Packer, blue/brown alternatives, they wear the same helmet minus the decals.

thats because the helmets that used to go with those jerseys didnt have the GB on them in the first place

Those look terrible...I believe this is Mitchell and ness and looks tons better if black is what you want
Still it just doesn't work for me, especially with the dynasty era guys.
lol those are all very fake. Mitchell & Ness doesnt make jerseys that were never worn. Its just Chinese bootleggers adding the M&N tagging.

We wouldnt need completely different helmets. We would just put decals over the helmet stripes.

Shows how much I know about black niner jerseys I didn't even know they didn't make one. I do remember black starter niners jerseys in like 92-93ish though.

What do you mean the helmets can't change? The Rams have 2 helmets right? Blue/yellow and blue/gold.
Anyway, I don't have a problem with black, but I thought there would be more design elements like the Ducks uniforms.
Apart from that, the biggest issue I have is why the white socks?! Is hideous. White/red against black? In my opinion they should have made the socks black/red.

I believe the Rams wear the same helmet (the shell) and they just change the decals. (from gold to yellow)
We could do this if we wanted to. If the alternate was the 1994 design, we could change the decal on the helmet to the pre-1996 logo.

Im only aware of those Starter "fan" jerseys from the 90's of companies who made real, plain black and red jerseys.
I think its a Mitchell & Ness rule that anything they make had to have been worn on the field at some point. Unfortunaly the people who make fakes love to add M&N tagging to look more legit.

lol. no.
Look at the Patriots throwbacks for example
Completely different helmet. Has nothing to do with decals. Unless you have a throwback uniform as your alternate, you cannot change anything with your helmets.

Pats haven't wore this since 2012. A couple a years ago the league disallowed the use of multiple helmets(something to due with concussion concearns). Therefore, those using throws have to change (stl) or remove (GB) decals on the same helment shell. You can no longer use different helmets.
