Just trust me, this is the direction the NFL will be going so don't be surprised. It's why they want more games/teams in England and China. It's why they have added more uniforms to each team to wear mandatory in 2 games per season. They see NCAA making money and want in basically.

Wrong.

They sell jerseys, not helmets. They can continue to create BS uniform alternates without changing helmet color.

Each team MUST only have 1 set of helmets. Its a safety regulation. Thats why the Rams have to lay yellow decals over their gold Ram horns to wear the throwbacks. That wont change. The 49ers wont be wearing silver helmets.

That white, silver and red look good for us. No further than all black and those are staying. People seem to be buying and supporting those. Today's NFL is like the college uniforms. They bring in a lot of money so they create more to mix into every team's collection to sell more units per year. Instead of every fan buying 1 or 2 jerseys for home/away, they will buy about 2-6 more jerseys.

Same with merchandise. Blankets, shirts, you name it.

It's also a part of our history whether you like it or not.

Why is that? Why not let a team match helmets to their heinous alternate uniforms?

Because each helmet must be tested and pass safety regulations. Each team has 60+ helmets to check. 32 teams having an extra 60 to check is too much work.

that wasn't the question. we were not talking about jeresys, we were talking about helmets

I'm discussing both and why. Helmets are obviously a trickier thing because of the safety issues and they are more costly to make, but it's still money. If they can make a good enough profit and choose to go that route somewhere down the line with more helmets rest assured they will.

That's what I said about uniforms.. I said they make more now, like alternates and more frequent throwbacks for sales man.. lol come on.

It has been discussed and understood by me they have a limit on helmets per team which is easy to see. Sometimes they do throwback helmets or AFL helmets though.

Two different sets...

All these teams had two sets of helmets for the seasons decided by the NFL (2009 for sure)... It happens all the time and will continue to. It's free advertisements in games and then they stock the shelves with new product with a different/new look so people can buy what they see on television.

It's the same with all the breast cancer merchandise. Any reason to make new product and sell it using free advertising.
that cowboys pic and the one of the 2009 AFL anniversary teams were taken prior to the "one helmet shell color" policy the league instituted in 2012 for supposed safety reasons

neither the cowboys nor any other team have worn shells of a drastically differing color than their regular helmets since 2012 (though as stated, some teams like the Rams can get away with a throwback helmet if only helmet decals have to be replaced)

the whole safety and "concussion prevention" excuse is BS IMO....look no further than the NCAA who don't enforce such a policy (e.g. OREGON!) though that's more of an indictment on the NCAA and the uniform/helmet manufacturers who place $$$ and recruiting bait over the safety of college athletes...

So it's only been 3 full NFL seasons. That's not enough to make me believe they won't bring helmets back for merchandise sales soon if not sometime. There is just a lot of heat on them right now over the whole retiring/concussion thing. There are even movies being made at this current time, so I'd expect it back sooner or later. Probably sooner whether they pay for the extra helmets, improve the safety in each helmet or just wait until the storm blows over and get their way like the NFL always does. But to be clear my main point was that it has happened and recently within a small window when some here were saying it didn't or doesn't.

Nobody buys helmets though. People will buy a new jersey every year, but nobody cares about helmets. The only time people will buy a helmet is to get an autograph on it. The way you talk it's like kids are walking around with NFL helmets on like its the cool thing to do like hey do with jerseys.

Yeah, and all of the pink ribbons. Why don't they also promote prostate health awareness for men? Now what color ribbon should that be. I'm sure that would also increase the sales of those foam fingers.

Quite a few collector's purchase helmets. It's not to the extent of jerseys obviously but they offer them in catalogs and retail stores for good reason. The replicas sell more than you think, both the miniatures and official size, and the authentic helmets also sell more than you would think but not as much as the replicas of course.

Why would you exaggerate with the kids example? That's just ridiculous. The NFL is very popular. More than ever full grown men (and women) along with the usual demographic are not only buying more merchandise, but are sitting on huge collections, man caves, etc.. They almost all will definitely include a helmet or two, and sometimes more. This is especially true when concerning replicas which are also made with each edition of the helmets, both regular, alternative and AFL.

You need to get out more, I have seen most NFL fans with more than one helmet in their home. It's actually very common these days in man caves, collections and like you said for autographs as well.

They sell quite a bit of breast cancer awareness merchandise. There are just too many outlets for merchandise sales for the NFL. Retail, home shopping, catalogs, online, you name it so they sell quite a bit of everything. Go to your local sports store and just look at all the little junk they have marked with NFL this and that and they all sell.. lol

Ask about their helmets and they will tell you they do sell.

Most NFL fans have a helmet in their home? Are you for real with this you're posting? No offense, but you're coming off as a know it all talking out of his ass. You have no factual base to what your posting other than your opinion. lol
