Not really, but I'm sure you're having a good snicker over how clever you are. lol

more like a good facepalm over how smart you are. lol

You accused someone of doing exactly what you were doing. That's what "pot calling the kettle black"
means. You had no "factual base" either, just opinions.

Quite a few collector's purchase helmets. It's not to the extent of jerseys obviously but they offer them in catalogs and retail stores for good reason. The replicas sell more than you think, both the miniatures and official size, and the authentic helmets also sell more than you would think but not as much as the replicas of course.

Why would you exaggerate with the kids example? That's just ridiculous. The NFL is very popular. More than ever full grown men (and women) along with the usual demographic are not only buying more merchandise, but are sitting on huge collections, man caves, etc.. They almost all will definitely include a helmet or two, and sometimes more. This is especially true when concerning replicas which are also made with each edition of the helmets, both regular, alternative and AFL.

You need to get out more, I have seen most NFL fans with more than one helmet in their home. It's actually very common these days in man caves, collections and like you said for autographs as well.

I have 2 full sized, one Joe Montana autographed, and the other has Jerry Rice and Steve Young. Also a mini with Brent Jones and Merton Hanks.

Yeah, and all of the pink ribbons. Why don't they also promote prostate health awareness for men? Now what color ribbon should that be. I'm sure that would also increase the sales of those foam fingers.

Colon cancer awareness month would probably be the way to go if you're really looking to up the sales on those silly foam fingers. Could probably go with brown ribbons.
Merchandise has nothing to do with NFL equipment rules, NFL banned the different helmets

So it's only been 3 full NFL seasons. That's not enough to make me believe they won't bring helmets back for merchandise sales soon if not sometime. There is just a lot of heat on them right now over the whole retiring/concussion thing. There are even movies being made at this current time, so I'd expect it back sooner or later. Probably sooner whether they pay for the extra helmets, improve the safety in each helmet or just wait until the storm blows over and get their way like the NFL always does. But to be clear my main point was that it has happened and recently within a small window when some here were saying it didn't or doesn't.

lol the concussion thing isnt a "storm that will blow over". Its a permanent culture change. The NFL hid the details of the health problems for years, and now they're getting exposed, and doing major damage control by changing the rules and regulations of the sport.

The NFL loves making money, and can do so in many ways. Changing helmet protocol just to add more jersey options for retail sales is a waste of time. They will always be able to sell alternates that work around the teams' current helmet styles (49ers black jerseys). Teams re-brand all the time to generate revenue. The Eagles will likely switch back to the kelly green/silver Randall Cunningham uniforms soon. Then they can change their helmets and jerseys for retail profit.

You realize that the team doesn't have to be currently wearing the helmet for them to sell retail versions of it, right?

Your logic makes no sense...If fans want a throwback helmet, or jersey, they can go buy them, regardless of whether the team is wearing them as alternates...

Oh how funny. That's not the underlying point of this conversation at all. The OP of this conversation was saying the NFL will change their one helmet safety policy per player per season because money will trump all and they will want to boost sales across the board, including helmets. I pointed out that helmet sales aren't something that are so strong that it will push the NFL to change their safety policy.

And then you came in here and interjected your own personal helmet counts, as if your own personal helmet obsession has something to do with the overall sales of the product. You should take your own advice of "Read and learn."

Just saying, I've seen an awful lot of homes with quite a collection that usually includes helmets. Miniatures, official size, and even the tiny collectible ones. Think what you will man.
