1962 uni's

Those uni's are popular because of their association with the 1994 season that ended in our 5th Lombardi trophy. The team was so good that season that they made the uni's look good. I like them as well as the all black uni's and am curious to see other alt uniforms.

We were 11-0 in the Red '94 and 4-1 in the White '94. Only loss was the season finale at Minnesota when the starters only play like the first quarter.

Only wear them again when the team is stacked (2019?) and hopefully has a win streak going like in '94

I love them and I'm almost scared to tarnish them if it's a direct remake for the 100th. I guess you can argue that '96 and '97 could be thrown in. If so, our record since re introducing the white pants are (including playoffs):

1994 - 15-1
1996 - 13-5
1997 - 14-4

So that's 42-10. I think someone mentioned that earlier in this thread.

I wonder if they would let's us do a direct remake with red helmets (I guess white helmets would be an option if you went with the 1956 versions).

Wonder how these white helmets would look with our logo on it. I think they would look pretty mean

lol WTF? Those uniforms were a fad, and represent the very essence of losing.

I know they weren't good in them, but it's what I grew up with and I like them. The reason I said "in my opinion." So there

I grew up with them too, but aesthetically they're inferior to the simplistic and classic design/colors.

IMO what happened was in 1994, for the 75th anniversary, we wore those drop shadow throwbacks with the white pants. We won in the throwbacks, and then got blown out by Philly. Seifert superstitiously went back to the throwbacks, and we wore them all season, and won the Super Bowl.

In 1995 we went back to the old style, but probably put in the uniform change request that must be in advance, because the changed up look in 1994 worked for us. We go with a modified version in 1996 for our 50th anniversary. White pants, drop shadow, and a new logo. Went with the sports trend and used a darker red. By 1998 they realized we weren't really the 49ers without gold pants.

The change back to simple cherry red with white numbers in 2009 followed the new sports trend of getting back to classic colors and designs that fans were nostalgic about.

Ultimately the 96-08 uniform were a trend, but the tradition of the 49ers is the classic set, IMO.

I didn't hate the 96-08 set, but by 1999 or so I was really missing our 64-95 look. The cardinal Red was just too dark and it really looked off on the hats and apparel.

Now I just wish we would bring back the Quentin font.

Just gonna leave this here.... goodnight lol

Agreed 100%. Going away from the Quentin font was criminal.

Ok, you say this is all "IMO" but your post comes across as very much like you are stating an absolute fact. To say one uniform is aesthetically inferior to another is definitely an opinion but you state it as if it's a 100% proven fact or something.

Most of your posts are this way; I don't know if you mean to come across that way or not, but you usually do. But anyway, in my personal opinion, I like the 98-08 uniforms best, but I also like the current ones. You can't tell me I'm wrong for having a uniform opinion lol.

And to say they represent losing is a little dumb. They had some success in those uniforms, and obviously the uniform has absolutely nothing to do with team performance. We've been terrible for 3 years in a row now, and were pretty mediocre in 2014. Also sucked in 2009 and 2010. Based on your logic, does that mean the current uniform should go because they have sucked the majority of the time they've been wearing them?

I grew up with those unis and they're okay, but I like our currents more

I dunno why I like them so much. There's just somethin about them. Maybe it's just that it reminds me of when I first really started watching football (1998). Too bad they had limited success after that but they still had some fun teams to watch with T.O. for a few years
classic niner threads were the best and the new ones are pretty damn close to those, i have a few of the 98-08 jerseys but i cant wait to get my throwback montana. that bright red with white numbers is so simple but it looks badass. the shadow numbers on the 98s looks dated as hell now days.
1994 inspired, or some other 50s era style throwbacks would be cool

All gold or all red would be almost as sh***y as the all black look
