Bears wear theirs every year, so they're NOT "special occasion" and are for all intents and purposes, their alternates. Same goes with the Packers, though not worn as often as the Bears. If the Niners follow suit and have the '94/'55 throwback as their alternates (worn max 2x a year) then it would make most sense to make them accurate. TV numerals were implemented in the 60s/70s during low-definition TV era. Not so much of a worry nowadays with HDTV, so it wouldn't be a mandatory requirement for uniforms, especially ones based on period-era, pre-TV jerseys like the '94 throwbacks of the '55 jerseys

I must disagree with you dude.

These three uniforms all have something in common (Hint: Texas has this in common too).

Barf
The black unis and all reds above are hideous. Yikes.

Doesn't every NFL team have shoulder numbers on both their home and road jerseys? Seems like it might be something the NFL still enforces if everyone has them. At least for primaries.

Nvm, just looked it up. No team has gone without TV numbers on a regular basis since the 1980 Bengals. The NFL stopped requiring TV numbers in 2008, but only the occasional throwback uniform goes without them.

It all depends on whether the 49ers see these new uniforms as an updated alternate that is inspired by the throwbacks (new helmet logo and TV numbers), or a complete throwback replication.

If we do get the return of the 94s, I hope they leave the tv numbers off. That's one of my favorite aspects of the jersey (and a big reason why I bought Deion, Steve and Jerry 1994 Mitchell & Ness jerseys)

I don't. The all white looks clean and fresh. Nothing screams color rush too. As we have had the all whites before. I love the ones Goodwin posted. Clean as fk. Nothing flashy either. Looks professional.

Color rush was just abandoned as mandatory for TNF games I believe (meaning it's optional for TNF, or any other game, so long as it's designated as the uni that will be worn ahead of time)
