Aesthetically, the silver helmeted uniforms in the late 1950s were nice looking but, come on, this is the San Francisco 49ERS, as in the year of the California GOLD rush. The silver mines were in Nevada, which is a nice, accidental coincidence of the Raiders moving to Vegas, but the Niners need to keep it gold.

I don't mind it because it's a historical, actual uniform the team wore at one point.

It's not like they pulled a black uniform out from nowhere and wore it.

Also, it might get some people to realize there teams that existed before 1981, and some pretty damn good players from those teams.

get over this whole gold vs silver, CA vs Nevada BS (wtf?) the team ACTUALLY wore silver helmets in their history—it's not like it's some outta the blue, whim decision they would make *cough*black uniforms*cough* that has NOTHING to do with their history

it'd actually be a nice tribute to their forgotten early teams and at least would have the oval SF logo (unlike the plain red helmets):

FYI: the team switched to silver helmets in the early 60's more as a nod to their gray-haired head coach, the "Silver Fox" Red Hickey, who invented the shotgun formation with the Niners.

I'm too young to have been able to see Joe play, sorry. But I do know that Jerry represents both the Joe era, and the Steve era and is widely considered to be the best football player in history. He played for the team for 16 seasons; Deion played for 1. I don't care who impacted what for ONE season. Jerry impacted the team for 16 seasons, so he is the obvious one to represent the Niners when it comes to anything 49ers related.

Not dismissing the fact that Deion helped them win their last trophy, but to me there is no way he should be representing anything 49ers over Jerry.

They're 94 throwbacks but they're still 49er jerseys. If you're going to bring back a former 49er great to be out there with the current players you bring back one of the greatest 49ers and players of all time. That's not Deion Sanders.

That season is memorable for us winning the SB. Deion played a large part of that..but it's absolutely idiotic to attribute Deion to the 49ers, regardless to how good he was that one year.
