Can we all agree those black 49er jerseys were terrible? What a dark day for our franchise. A real black eye.

Yes. Even if you were ok with the idea/aesthetic of them, the lack of contrast on the numbers made them really hard to read.

I scratch my head every time I see the raiders wearing the white jerseys with the silver numbers. You might as well not even have numbers on the jersey.

Not all "49ers" came to California to pan for gold…in fact the majority who actually made riches didn't even mine, but earned their riches exploiting the needs of the miners for supplies (Levi Strauss being a famous example).
Silver helmets, like it or not, are part of the team's uniform legacy and should be honored just for its pure quirkiness. Not every NFL uniform component has to make sense, especially for throwbacks (where a lot of times the whole point of wearing them is they're unique and quirky):
- real life Buccaneers in the 1600's I'm sure didn't wear bright creamsicle orange
- Boston Patriots for sure as hell didn't have RED coats
…Broncos don't have orange manes, Eagles aren't green, etc. etc.
That's not the point. They switched to gold because they felt it was more in keeping with the 49ers theme. The old logo showed a guy panning for gold. The newspapers referred to therm as the Prospectors. If they really want a throwback then go all the way back to the red helmets.

Ew gross. We can't not have gold helmets. EEEEWWWWW.
The only helmet change I'd be interested in is maybe blinging up the gold a bit for a game. I'd be okay with some gold flek. But the shell must remain GOLD.
Look at these babies, made even more attractive by Jimmy's Jeff Garcia impersonation:

"Go first class or don't go at all" - Tony Morabito. Gold helmets = first class. Silver helmets= middle seat near the wing. Red helmets = seats by the lavatory.

It really doesn't matter unless they're talking about a permanent change, which they aren't. During the 50s when I first started watching the team it seemed like the uniforms were changing every other year. They were Oregon before Nike even existed.

White throwbacks for the titans tonight.
I certainly was not a fan of the black jerseys because they were cliche and looked like pajamas more than a football uniform. But if they had to do it I always thought it should be in the style of the 94 throwbacks. Red numbers with a gold drop shadow, gold name plates, and a gold stripe in the middle of the red stripes on the pants, I actually wouldn't mind that.

Best I could do in the amount of time I felt like allocating to this
Here's a much cooler one someone who actually was dedicating to doing well made (but it's more of a version of the late 90s uniforms):

Oh I agree. They're gross. But I'd probably prefer that one on the bottom to the ones we had in 2015.
