Aside from that 40-8 loss to the Eagles, those uniforms are my only complaint from that Super Bowl season. Every time I see highlights I'm just the tiniest fraction of a bit disappointed that they aren't running up and down the field at will wearing the regular uni's. The greatest, classiest uniform in sports. So glad we're back to those though I do miss the fat stripes on the pants along with the striped socks.

NO to :

- gold facemask
- white border on helmet logo
- black border on jersey numerals
- red belt

YES to :

- gray facemask
- current helmet logo with black border
- plain borderless jersey numerals
- belt same color as pants
- striped socks

Grey/silver shouldn't even be an option. I like how it looks the way it is with the white border around the logo and gold facemask, it makes it look more uniform. There's no reason to have any black on the unis, so I think they should remove the black outline from the numbers and it would be good to go.

I will agree 100% on the wide stripes down the pants leg. That looks a lot more awesome than the thin stripes

Meh, gray facemasks are part of the traditional uniform look and apart from 1996-2008 have always been a part of Niners helmets (its a neutral color that blends in nice). The same goes for the helmet logo...its always had a black border since the very first iteration in 1962.


Nike should only make these changes to the current standard unis (worn since '09):

1) fix the jersey collar (big complaint of fans who, unlike players don't wear pads and have been stuck with the Reebok lowcut collar)

2) fix the jersey sleeve stripes (never knew why Reebok did the whole partial sleeve stripes...yeah, sleeves today are shorter, but the stripes could easily have just been moved up instead of truncated...it was probably done just to make room for the Reebok logo )

3) enlarge the size of the nameplates on the back to the same size of the early '90s jerseys (and the same size of the current Cowboys and Jets jerseys, who have the same font for the nameplates)...don't know why Reebok made these smaller

4) do a compromise of the current medium-width pant stripes favored by players (they say it improves movement) and the thick 80's pants stripes favored by nostalgic fans (players complained it was "too restrictive") I'm sure Nike can improve the fabrics, etc.

5) bring back the striped socks...players will just have to accept it (they vetoed it in '09)

6) go back to white/white taped cleats...this was the look of the 80's and players just look faster wearing them (the alternate 50's/60's based throwbacks can keep the black cleats since they were worn in that era)

The throwback/fauxback Nike should make for the team should incorporate the best features of the team's early unis..1955 shadowed numerals, 1962-63 silver helmets, white/silver pants, etc..

These features are part of the team's history and distinct enough from the standard red and gold unis to be a nice changeup for a couple games a year (much better than some gaudy, puke-inducing "Pro-Combat" monstrosity that Nike had better not introduce for the Niners...save that $#!t for the Seahags!)

Speaking of uniforms, I dont get it. Are we red or maroon, because everytime I want to buy some Niners gear its maroon, but our jerseys are clearly red. This is not only annoying but also embarrassing because our team cant make up their mind what color they are. Personally I like the red better. I also like the old 9ers logos better (SF w/ black outline only-no gold and 49ERS in the old font). I like our current jerseys but I would not mind the 75th anniversary unis as an alternate. The thick stripes on the pants would be cool, but the striped socks (even though they bring back good memories) are god awful. The current collar DOES suck and the sleeves are just weird. PLEASE, NO SILVER!

Am I the only person that thinks those 94 uniforms and those white pants are the nastiest uniforms the niners have ever worn? Only thing good about them was the helmet.

You're not the only one. Those things are fugly. I hate how they added even more black and the white pants are nasty especially once they get dirty. The Nike one looks sick, I wouldn't mind if I saw those on the field at all. The people that like the 94 unis probably still wear Ben Davis and Pendletons. Lol

The shoulder pads on the nike's look gay. its got sort of gold print thing going on... ala Oregon Ducks

not diggin the stripes on the under armour hopefully nobody actually would wear that with the uni...
