Faaaaaaap

I think that's the prettiest girl I've ever seen.

Her head has obviously been photo-shopped onto another body... It is too big and the skin color doesn't match the body.

That being said, that sure is a pretty face.

I've always thought those block. fake "3-D" numbers are simply not aesthetically pleasing... They look dated and are hard to read...especially on TV. I'm really glad the team went back to its classic uniform of the 70s and 80s... Wish they would improve the sleeves on the jersey and go back to white shoes. John Taylor always looked great running for long TDs in those white shoes. Jerry too.

Just my take...

Cheers!

- Alternate = updated throwback modernized

With all due respect, Dr, there are several reasons not to have a silver helmet.

First, silver is simply not a Niners color. Yes, they have had silver helmets in the past (very briefly) but frankly, they realized their mistake and switched to gold soon after.

Also, there are many teams that now have a silver helmet.....Raiders, Patriots, Panthers, Lions, just to name a few. Other than the Niners, only the Saints have a gold helmet.

Plus, the Niners are called the Forty-Niners because they are named after people who were mining for gold, not silver. Therefore, having silver instead of gold in the team's uniform doesn't make any sense.

Keep it gold, my friend...
thank you. hallelujah! reason and maturity can return to this thread.

meh....it may look silver, but i consider it "white gold"

it's a nice change-up, and despite its seem incongruity and illogic with gold-miners, you must take into account the silver-helmeted teams of the 40's-early 60's played in the black-and-white era and so gold wasn't necessarily felt to be needed by the team. in fact, i believe the origin of adopting that color was in honor of the team's first coach Buck "The Silver Fox" Shaw (he reportedly had an elegant head of grey hair).

The team wisely and rightly later adopted gold helmets and pants starting in the late 50's (and permanently from 1964). Still, IMO it would be more appropriate and desirable, if the team were to adopt a past uniform design from its first two decades as the basis for a throwback/alternate, to chose the 1962-63 silver ones (its the only one with striping and a logo like its modern counterpart) rather than an attempt at reproducing the plain, solid-color shell helmet of the team's infant years which would be drab.

I shun and dread any attempt by Nike to impose a "Pro-Combat" Oregon University-type "modern" alternate. A classy, elegant and simple combination of the best aspects from the team's throwback unis would, IMO suit this team best (and be better accepted by most of the fanbase).

You're out of your mind. the new font looks so stupid. Its so generic. it looks like a font for a non-licensed 49ers shirt K-Mart might sell.

Most people who were fans before 2005 when they changed it think of the old font as going hand in hand with the Super Bowl champion caliber 49ers. It would be like changing the SF logo on the helmet to that crappy "49ers" font logo proposed back in the early 90's, and 5 years later someone was like "this new logo is better than the old one". its comparing mediocrity to greatness. not to mention the new font has basically represented 6 years of terrible football.

bring back the Quentin font! lets start a petition. I guarantee 85-95% of 49ers fans would approve switching back. I have no idea why it was changed in the first place.

Because it is horribly ugly, seriously terrible. The font is not why we were winning by a long shot. To cling to something so terrible just because it was around during the 80's is silly. I for one was glad to see it go. I liked the 55 throwbacks we wore in 94 too, more interesting than the current ones.

Its hilarious to me that anyone in their right mind likes the new font better than the old. the old font had real character. it was unique. it was classic. its as "49ers" as the SF logo. what year did you become a 49er fan? I just cant see how anyone who become a fan before this last decade could dislike the Quentin font. to me its like someone saying they prefer cafeteria food over food from a steakhouse.
I dont see how anyone could disagree with going back to the old font. So much better in every way. And not just because we were winning then. Its all around better.
A lot of you guys need to stop living in the past.
You want old uni's, old fonts etc.
Were not in the 80-90s anymore, and people need to realize that.

Whats wrong with new, modern looking uni's or fonts?
Every team in the NFL already transitioned into the new era of football, when will you guys learn to let go of the past?

It's really just a matter of personal opinion, some like the flashy new designs, others the older ones. I think the best unis are definitely the ones that are classic in appearance: the Raiders, Bears, Bills, Packers, Giants and of course, our own uniforms are in my opinion the best looking ones, as opposed to what the Cardinals, Vikings, and Falcons have morphed into.

The Bills especially, their new unis look so much better than what they had before. And when teams bring out their retros, like the Falcons and Titans for example, it's really apparent, at least to me, that those are what their uniforms should look like. But hey to each their own, I just think modernizing uniforms tend to make them look too complicated and 'loud'.

everyone just remembers those uni's fondly because the only year we wore them, we won the Super Bowl. Deion Sanders is who i always think of when i see those uniforms. 94 was strangely isolated, in a good way. we were so much better than everyone else, its a shame we couldnt have won a couple more with that team.

Yeah you're about that. I wonder if we never wore those unis that year, and came out this year with them, how the fan reaction would be. And to be honest I don't actually like the road version, with the white on white. Gold pants would be pretty awesome however.

The 96/97 uniforms are seriously WTF.

it was a progression. werent the 94 uniforms part of some kind of throwback thing the NFL was doing for the 75th anniversary? i remember alot of teams wore throwbacks that year. IIRC we didnt wear those unis every game. we wore the plain, regular ones some games too. also, the helmet in 94 stayed the same as before. because in 95 we went back the regular old ones full time. I think maybe the 94 unis inspired the Niners to make a full time change in 96, which is why we went to white pants.

I do remember opening day in 96, when we ran out the new look. a much improved SF logo which was more sleek and had the gold band in it. they also darkened the red color to more of a crimson. I was like 10, didnt hear anything of it until i saw the first game. then in 98 they went back to gold pants.

I remember i was really happy with our 98-08 uniforms, and it took me a year to come around these new ones, but now i think these are my favorites overall. i love the originality of the past uniforms mixed with the new logo and updated look.
All pink, as a shoutout to my recently banned texas friend.

the '94 team was only supposed to wear the 1955 throwbacks for a couple games early in the season (rams and saints IIRC)...then they got blown out like 40-8 by the eagles wearing their regular gold pants unis and superstitious Niners coach george seifert had the team wear the throwbacks for the rest of the season (with the NFL, then not such the fashion nazis as today, approved). the team had to switch back in '95, but '96 conveniently was the team's 50th anniversary, so there was an excuse to redesign the uniforms, heavily influenced by the 1955/1994 throwbacks, but these IMO became quickly stale and date by 1999...took them too long to go back to the classic look (a few throwback games with the 80's unis were played from 2002, 2005-08) but finally the bright red and gold came back in '09.

BTW anyone who saw the Ohio State game yesterday should have seen immediately why Nike should NEVER be allowed to take a school or franchise's classic, signature uniform and be allowed to run amok with their so-called "Pro-Combat" modernizations and improvements!
