the only gold on the jersey that might work is to have (on the red jersey) the stripes to go: bottom gold, then red, middle white stripe, red again, top gold (just like the packers sleeve stripes, but in niners colors)....then again, i wouldn't want the team to be accused of trying to copy the cheeseheads...plus, 3 white stripes has been a staple on the red jerseys since 1950...shouldn't mess with that.
I see what you mean. Like I said, maybe I was going out on a limb there. lol True, I would NEVER wanna mess with the 3 white stripes on the jersey. Just bringing the gold trim &/or shadowing back to the player numbers. Definitely have to agree with you in general though.
gamechanger, hope u don't mind....made some final tweaks to you awesome reditions...

Leave the opposite colors to the Cowgirls. RED AND GOLD FOREVER!!!!

chill...these would ONLY be worn for at max 2 (non-primetime) games (No Fun League's new rule this year)...normal red & gold unis are safe for the other 14 games...

• Potential new rules are a shot across the bow. Word came out over the summer that the NFL was considering new rules limiting alternate jerseys to non-prime games prior to Week 10, because the proliferation of alternate looks could "potentially compromise a club's national brand equity." Does that sound like a league that's planning to go bonkers with crazy uniform designs to you? If anything, it sounds like a pre-emptive move to ensure that Nike will have little effect on the league's look.

Add it all up and you have a league that you'll have no trouble recognizing as the NFL in 2012. A few teams will no doubt go for a face-lift, and we'll hear the usual claims about space-age fabrics that are lighter, faster and so on (seriously, can the anti-gravity jersey be far behind?). But a large-scale redesign? Ain't gonna happen.

Whatever man, it's silver. Never going to happen anyway.
the team has learned from its past mistakes in uni redesign (1996, 1998 and the failed 1991 helmet). "new" and "innovative" does not weather well the initial fan enthusiasm (usu. among younger fans) and over time the majority of fans eventually clamor and long for the team's traditional colors and unis. therefore, if the team ever returns to wearing an alternate for a couple games a year, expect it to be a throwback and to be based on the pre-red and gold era, which most of the 40's to early 60's were....there were a few seasons (1947...1957-59) when the team had an approximation of gold helmets and pants (more like bronze on the leather helmets), but as I've stated before those design may be too plain (no helmet logo, minimal jersey and pant striping) for most people's liking if a throwback is based on those....plus a lot are expecting/hoping at least some return to the 1994 throwback look due to nostalgia for that season...the 1962-63 away whites are distinctive for having all the modern features of helmet striping and logo, and standard jersey and pant striping so these should be considered as well.

we'll see...

CHICAGO -- Reebok will be relinquishing its rights as the NFL's uniform provider in a new licensing apparel deal announcing by the league on Tuesday.

Nike will produce all NFL uniforms and on-field apparel beginning in 2012. Financial terms were not announced.

"We have spent considerable time the past few years rigorously evaluating our apparel business," Eric Grubman, the NFL's executive vice president of NFL ventures and business operations, said in a statement.

"The new framework will provide fans with a wider breadth of merchandise from global category leaders in the sports-licensed apparel industry."

maybe Nike will use their little Chinese girls to make the jerseys cheaper so Jed will finally fork out the dough for the rest of the stripes on our sleeves.

Maybe when we have a new stadium they can have a higher revenue to finish the rest of the stripes.

lol, they should have commercials on TV with sad looking 49ers players asking us to help them finish their stripes by donating to the stadium fund.
