Paraag Marathe Thread

Looks like Willis is signed, sealed, and delivered. Now we only have Davis, Goldson, Franklin, and Lawson to deal with. Looks like Paraag is doing his job for the team.

I want to give big props to the FO who have just been on fire since the year when we had zero LB's and had to sign Derek Smith to a huge contract just to field a defense (we gave away a ton of money). Since then, the FO has done a great job of locking up LT players AND getting ALL the rookies signed and in camp and ready to go. And let's not forget, we didn't cave on Crabtree either! Much props FO!

While most of the zone wants to sign all the FA bust's out there..

9ers are building a very strong YOUNG team that will compete for years.

Don't hold your breath on Goldson, Franklin and Lawson.

Goldson is represented by Drew Rosenhaus. Assuming the NFL is without a CBA in 2011 (and the NFLPA and Owners extend talks), Goldson would be a restricted free agent.

Franklin is turning 30 this season and has publicly stated he wants a long term deal. My gut instinct tells me the 49ers let him play out this season and let me walk in 2011. While his limited mileage and overachiever persona both fit in with this defense, his size and lack of physical ability lead me to believe he doesn't fit in long term.

Lawson, like Goldson, would be a restricted free agent in 2011 (see above for circumstance). The team seems content with Lawson playing on first and second downs while mixing Brooks and LaBoy on passing downs.

Paraag locked up two of our brightest players for minimal deals (Staley and Willis) for a long time. He didn't blink and got Crabtree to buckle and was smart enough not to start offering him less money cuz he was missing games, making him more unlikely to sign.

I have confidence he'll retain Goldson and Gore, but VD might be a problem. He could command big money that might be too much for us to pay. Depending on VD's role in the offense next year and how much he's buying into Singletary, and if we make the playoffs and are on the rise, he may lower his price for us (but I doubt substantially)

Ralph just hate Indians, Paraag does seem like a very bright guy.

Paraag is a beast with those numbers.

He is making some of these agents look bad with the contracts he is putting together in favor of the 49ers.
