When Mooch is talking about "analytics" to out Bryant Young, was this the start of Paraag?

I think Jed will side with ShanaLynch vs Paraag if push comes to shove. First of all, I think ShanaLynch know the analytics probably almost as well as Paraag, and if not, Paraag isn't doing his job. I loved the fact that there was an out option in Kaep's contract that enabled ShanaLynch to cut Kaep if he wasn't wanted by the New Regime. I think that was installed in there by Paraag, and not Baalke or Harbaugh. I think that it's too technical for them to have done so. (just my opinion of course).

Paraag is going to be needed once we really start winning and all the players will want Franchise QB level money even though they are O Linemen. In the meantime, it doesn't hurt that Paraag is on the team making sure that Grap's contract will be as cap friendly as possible from the git go. But ultimately, I think John Lynch is going to make those contract decisions and Paraag will be just an assistant to make sure John isn't missing anything important. John Lynch is going to defer greatly to Kyle on the offensive side, and of course John's going to make the decisions on the defensive side - with input from Kyle. At least, that's how I'm reading the current relationship right now.

Yeah, love his role today. I just thought that nugget was interesting...that pounding the table for BY over analytics was one of the sources of contention with management that lead to Mooch's own dismissal.

The analytics department (Paraag) rubbed Walsh, Mooch and Harbaugh the wrong way. I get that the guy is good with contracts and the cap but the analytics seems to have lacked for most of the time he has been here since the team has been godawful for most of that period. He has been a part of selecting all of those bad coaches and the analytics have been a part of lots of bad drafts and bad FA pick ups.

Walsh, Mooch and Harbaugh know a lot better than Paraag. Harbaugh wasn't going to put up with Paraag and Jed telling him how to run a team and I am hoping Shanalycnh don't either and I hope the York's back the right people this time.

We need Paraag to pull off his greatest feat yet: giving Jimmy G an offer he can't refuse!!

Something around 25 million per yr.

If Paarag pulls this off, he's a legend and zoners will repent for every disparaging remark ever made about him

I totally agree with youm Mr. Commander.

The Eddie DeBartolo rule (Cap-anomics) really threw this franchise into a tizzy. That rule was designed specifically to eliminate him and how he did business. I think what happened is that it took some years for the team (and many other teams) to figure out Capanomics, and now I think it's a settled science. Analytics is more a part of Capanomics than football. Football is blocking and tackling and passing and running. Analytics is more about the value of all those guys and whether you are overpaying and underpaying and how to structure a cap friendly contract.

Paraag is essential for capanomics, but football is the product. It's the *how* vs *why.* I think all coaches coaching nowadays, kinda know a lot more about capanomics than during the days Mooch was coaching. That's why I think Paraag (while important) isn't as necessary and as powerful a position as he had, during the early days of Capanomics. I'm pretty sure you got a lot of software nowadays to help the coaches structure contracts - specially if you are dealing with 53+ moving parts, that also eliminates more of Paraag's power.

Agree, he did a great job along with ShanaLynch in getting Jimmy GQ to sign. Now it's onto the other free agents! It gets harder as the cap space shrinks.

Well, I thought he was the leaker, and that turned out to be Baalke.

Absolutely
Yeah the rumor was he was the cancer. Looks like it couldn't be farther from the truth. (Baalke)

Everyone (hopefully) learns from their mistakes. Looks like he and Lynch really get along and work great together. That's all I care about as a fan, the front office works great and pushes for each other. That energy spreads through the entire organization.
Hats off to our Sri Lankan Howie Roseman.

I always liked him when he was sticking to contracts...when he interjected into other aspects is when I had issues. When this franchise has a strong FO/coaching, his skills to negotiate contracts are invaluable
