Seems like it could be true though. Paraag has been moving up and GM is the next logical step for him. There has been no news of any rifts between him and Jed in the past year.
If they put Marathe as the GM which isnt happening, and hire Harbaugh then im cool with that.

i mean as long a Harbaugh has final say in all matters.
if they promote him to GM then there truly is no hope for this f**king team, this is terry donahue part 2
Bottom line is Paraag up to this point has had no say in the player drafted or free agents brought in. What he has done is get them signed an into camp. The only glitch was Crabtree and I don't care who was doing it Crabtree was going to be a hold out. As long as Paraag isn't doing the drafting and such I see no problem with him.

i will be VERY disappointed if he gets promoted. Bring someone in who knows something about the sport. f**k!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I feel relieved that the 49ers promote & retain the geniuses that brought us the greatness of the 49ers in the 2000's. Keep it rolling Niners. Great track record so far!

Sorry, but no way any good coach is coming here if Paraag is GM.

Not saying that Paraag will definitely be GM, just saying that it could happen considering the power structure already in place and his recent promotion. Eddie D. doesn't run this team, and no matter how much he talks to Jed, Jed still has his own mind. We'll see.
All that the Sentinel article said was that York was "considering" Paraag Marathe for the GM position. It did not say anything else.

Furthermore, the infamous "according to sources" while not naming those same sources indicates the claims made in this article are untrue or at least unverified.

Can't argue this, but I also can't argue the fact that most of the beatwriters have mentioned Paraag as being a major stumbling block in landing a good coach. Just sayin'
lol WTF does Paraag know about evaluating talent? Running a draft? Nothing. It would make about as much sense as Sarah Palin.
Wow just wow. If that happens the the NFL needs to buy the niners.

"Seems like it could be true" based on what? I think it's more likely NOT to be true. If the 49ers wanted to make Praage GM, they would have done it last year and avoid the Rooney Rule requirement. Baalke is still VP of PP, no harm, no foul. It makes absolutely NO SENSE making Praage the GM because Lisa Lang is gone - she's marketing for god's sake. If anything this says the 49ers are probably looking to bolster their push for a stadium, not the imminent hire of Praage as GM.

Think of the Yorks and think of what you are saying. Logic does not apply to them. Paraag is a rising star in their minds. I admit he's a book-smart guy, but I think he's a terrible fit as a GM because he's not a football guy. I'm just stating the truth, which is that the Yorks are enamored with this guy. I'd like to believe that we're going to get Gruden or Harbaugh, but given our track record why should I believe they'd make the right decision?

Okay I call bulls**t on this article:

Lang has been privately criticized in San Francisco and Santa Clara for her failure to communicate in a timely manner and to generate support for the struggling York family effort to turn the team around. She served on the winning stadium campaign in Santa Clara, but the proposed new stadium may never be built because the York family cannot get the financing and the NFL and California state leaders oppose the team building outside of San Francisco.

1) This "article" has no author so you can inquire who wrote it and discuss how they configured the story.

2) The bold regarding the NFL opposing the team building outside of San Francisco is PATENTLY FALSE! Simple google search. Clearly bad journalism if it's even a "journal".

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell secretly traveled to the South Bay late last month to meet with Santa Clara-area civic leaders at the 49ers' offices to attempt to rally support for the June 8 ballot measure for a new stadium.

The 49ers did not promote the arrival of the commissioner to the local media. After hearing word of Goodell's presence in the South Bay, I decided to pop in to see if I could get several of my questions answered by the head of the NFL.

So does the NFL favor a shared 49ers-Raiders stadium? "It is up to the teams to make that determination," Aiello replied. "We do not have a preference."

He also said it was up to the team to determine the location of its stadium within its market. So the NFL has no position on whether the 49ers' new home should be in Santa Clara, San Francisco or Oakland. The league supports the Santa Clara proposal because that is where the 49ers believe is their best, and most feasible, option.

If the ballot measure passes, the 49ers target is to have the stadium available for opening day of the 2014 season, a team spokesperson said.

Sorry charlie, but this "article" can't be believed by any stretch of the imagination. There's a difference between an editorial and just printing s**t that's not true.

DEBUNKED

Great, glad you debunked the article. Now explain to me how the Niners will hire Gruden/Harbaugh with Paraag near the top of the current power structure?
that's fair, maybe it's a crappy article. But, honestly who knows, maybe Paraag is really going to be promoted again. You just never know with the Yorks.
