Neither John York nor team Vice President Paraag Marathe, a business executive who has been involved in the football process, will be involved in the GM hiring, according to Jed York.

He isn't involved because everyone there knows Balkee is probably going to be the GM. No need to ask him anything. All Jed is doing with interviews is BS.

I disagree. Paraag is one of the best Business men in the NFL right now. He's absolutely GREAT with contract agreements with players.

This is correct.

He's an idiot and he needs to go. A recent MBA grad doing what? Crunching #'s all day and making charts on the value of players and such. Absurd. This guy couldn't work in 31 other NFL Front offices. The fact that he is here tells you a lot about the dysfunction of Jed/John York who apparently like him.
Not to baraag, but I always said he's done a good job.

This entire thread is based on the OP's speculation. And the above quote is ignorant at best. How do you know what he does all day? we've had some great contract negotionations with him in charge. Why the hate?

He's a good contract negotiator. He needs to stick with that. I'm glad I don't see him in the booth anymore.

Since I have done years of multi-million dollar contract negotiations for items that I am not an expert in using, I can say from personal experience that this can be done.

I just don't want to see him getting in over his head. I think his title is bigger than what it should be, but I like him in the contract negotiation role. I think he's doing a good job there. He gets them done quick, and it doesn't appear to be because he's bending over and giving the other side no-brainer contracts to sign. He also seems to understand the cap well.

As for him and the GM position, John York once said Paraag would make a great GM someday. That better not be on this team.

That would be Carmen Policy all over again.

If Baalke is going to be the "GM", then you can bet he will be a big part of the front office (like the current structure). Baalke has no or little experience in contract negotiation or money transactions. Thats why choosing Baalke as the "GM" IMO changes nothing.

Uh.... Baalke would be responsible for selecting and performance managing an NFL HC, which is something he's never done in his life before (and neither has Paraag for that matter). That is a big fricking deal in my book.

The thing is that that needs to the limit to whch he is involved. If he sticks his head in the talent evaluation room someone needs to tell him to get out and go cruch some numbers.

I second or third that thought.
