Like I said before, maybe benching Smith will light a fire under his ass, again maybe not. But we gotta do something, I don't think the firing of Raye is the only thing that needs to be done.

I know everyone is afraid of the picks; but if you look at the facts it paints a much different picture than just glancing over the numbers.

Out of the 2251 pass attempts David has made he's thrown an ugly 70 picks. Thats 1 out of every 31 attempts.

Alex, though, has only attempted 1297 passes and has thrown 48 picks. That comes out to one every 27 attempts.

Just watching the accuracy of the QB's playing last night convinced me that Alex just doesn't have what it takes to be an elite QB. And if were not developing him to be the QB of the future, then lets put in the QB who gives us the best chance to win right now...

smith just needs to stop throwing to crabtree.
Smith can make broken plays happen with his legs.

Carr will get blitzed and just get folded like an envelope.

Our oline breaks up 70% of the plays.

Yah but how often does Smith actually make something happen with his legs. The only time I seen is on MNF on the last drive. Besides that the only thing he uses his legs for is rolling out to the right.
David Carr Sucks!!!!!

HE DID IT ON SUNDAY WHEN HE RAN FOR 15 YARDS ONLY TO HAVE IT NEGATED BY CHILOS' HOLDING CALL
I want to see Alex perform with MJ's gameplans before I'd advocate for Carr to start. My sense is we'll see himgoing downfield a lot more...kind of like he did when he got to start last year. Difference this time is MJ's offense will consistently incorporate more playmakers...which should help Alex improve his distribution/accuracy of the football. One of MJ's early challenges will be to get Crabtree and Alex on the same page...I think some of that will happen "naturally" once they're in more spread formations, as both guys are more comfortable there.

QB A -- 65 TDs / 70 INTs / 75 rating
QB B -- 39 TDs / 48 INTs / 69 rating

who's better?

numbers don't lie

A = David Carr
B = Alex Smith

(p.s. start David Carr please)

I say we do like Buffalo and cut Alex now like they did Trent Edwards good riddance

You can't answer the question with the limited data provided. And if you honestly believe numbers don't lie, you are too naive to be allowed unsupervised access to the Internet.

Classic Alexcuser response. Alex is inferior statistically so just blame the stats as 'lying numbers'.

numbers don't lie yeah they both suck we saved

Troy Smith 3 td 1 int career rating 85.7

the answer is C

This is a classic lack of football knowledge answer (so, I'm sure you were being a smart ass here). It's not entirely the receivers fault; our receivers are making bad plays on poorly thrown balls. If the balls were thrown with accurate placement, then Alex would have far fewer picks.

Look at how many of Alex's picks come off of tipped balls by our own players. Then look at the spot where the ball was thrown to and how the receiver had to compensate. Sure there are one or two INTs that are solely on the receiver (just like a couple that are solely on Alex); but, the majority are thrown to high, leading too far, or thrown behind the intended target. The receivers are trying to adjust and make a play; but, there not sure if this pass is going to be too high, low, in front, behind, etc...

The correct answer is to either correct the receivers for trying to make a play on a poor pass or correct the QB for ball placement issues. I think it's easier to correct one guy instead of 6 or 7...
I think it's time. I've had enough of Smith's bulls**t.
This cannot be a legit thread
Put in Carr. It's a win-win situation. He plays good, that's great! Plays awful, tank the season. Smith doesn't deserve any playing time out there.
