Smith is a joke, but he's light years better than Carr. Let's be realistic. I'd freakin' rather play Troy Smith or Nate Davis.

There stats show you're wrong here; just take a look below...

Alex career completions = 57%
Carr career completions = 60%

Alex career attempts per INT = 26.5
Carr career attempts per INT = 32.1

Attempts per fumble lost:
Alex = 94.5
Carr = 102.3

Attempts per TD
Alex = 31.5
Carr = 30.4

Alex is less accurate, turns the ball over more frequently, Loses more fumbles, and scores less often. So, I ask you, how is Smith "light years better than Carr"?

You showed me a bunch of stats that Carr is barely better in...what exactly does that do? OK, so he throws less INTs...maybe he doesn't take many shots down the field...you gotta look at the big picture not just one slice of the pie to back your argument. I bet if you compare the stats, Shaun Hill appears better...on paper...but we all know that with Hill at QB, our team was limited and couldn't do much.

Regardless, even if Carr is better than Smith, it's not by much, and you have to factor in age. Carr is 31 and pretty much has no upside, we know what we have in him so the only way Carr should play is if our starter is hurt or completely ineffective, IMO. I think you'd be better off going with Troy Smith...he brings a different element...stronger arm and more mobility...something this team could use right now.

LOL How fast you flip-flop... First Smith is "light years better than Carr" and now it's "Carr is barely better". You sound like John Kerry in a presidential debate...

I was just responding to you for saying that Smith is "light years better than Carr". I successfully disproved that and now you come back with Smith has more upside. That rich; but' I'll bite. What important statistical categories has Smith been better than Carr? Please show me a couple of areas and identify why these make Smith better or have a better upside? No Smith supporter has ever been able to substantiate their claims with facts like these.

As far as Smiths upside... Just how much has he improved from last year? How much has he improved from 2006? When can we all expect to see this fantasy Smith you dream of, 4 more years? Maybe 5?..

What if for some miracle Carr just happens to be decent. Gives us a new direction till we draft another QB.

Hoping for some miracle that Alex is just gonna turn it around in one game is not gonna work. Alex might be a good QB someday, not with the Niners though. Sorry.

How can everybody just say Carr will automatically suck... he has never played one snap in the regular season for this team. I said for this team. :D
Alex had his millions. I don't feel sorry for him just like I don't feel sorry for Carr for crashing and burning in Houston.

Draft a QB in 2011 49ers. Please. For goodness sakes try something new before its too late.

Dude, Smith is better than Carr, where's the "flip flop?" I said that Smith is light years ahead of Carr, but your stats show that Carr might be slightly better than Smith. The point is, not everything can be seen through stats and even if Carr is slightly better, it's not worth starting him. He's not a viable option. You have to factor other things...arm strength, age, etc. The bottom line is that neither one of these QBs are good options, but to start all over from scratch and put Carr in there...it's an even bigger waste of time. I think we know that Carr won't be our starting QB next season, can we agree on that? It's the same with Shaun Hill last season. I think we knew that he wasn't going to be starting for us in the future, so why waste time and insert him in the starting role? The bottom line is that Smith should be in there as of now, even though he has played like garbage, because we don't have any better alternatives. Hopefully next season this changes and we won't have any more of these pointless QB debates.

Nice way to try and dodge the questions; but, don't worry. I totally get why you're unable to provide these facts. It's because they don't exist...
Watching it go and sayin',

Give him a chance - I think he would be better than Smith
It is time......
Lmao, it's gonna stay parked. Thats exactly why when Smith was yellin at Sing, it was funny cuz VD was right there saying, s**t please keep Smith in. i mean he f**ked up, but come on coach, it's David Carr, he's been around even longer than Smith.
It is time.............
Realistically Carr is signed until next year and Smith is gone after this year. Give Carr the chance to play because to tell you the truth we have nothing else to lose unless we tank the season.
Singletary will pump fake David Carr telling him to go in... but then last second change his mind... and put back Alex Smith as starting QB.... Singletary is such a doochebag!

0-5 change has to be made. The team has given up on alex, there is no need to beat a dead horse.
