Carr should be cut today.
I agree that he should be cut. He provides nothing for this team and signing him was a mistake. We should cut him and sign Shane Falco...

carr and smith must privately just laugh about how much money they've stolen from nfl owners as former #1 picks, heck even nfl backup qbs make several millions, david carr has bounced from team to team cashing cheques, and alex has at least 8 more years in the league as an over paid backup

For me the nail in the coffin for coach sing's job was how unprepared david carr was to play this weekend. All this talk from sing about how Alex would be evaluated on a week to week basis, you would think that he would be in david carr's ear every week making sure he was ready in case alex gets pulled. They had no trust in Carr and it showed with how they repeatedley ran the ball and got stuffed, that tells me that Carr wasnt prepared. The whole qb situation has been a debacle and hasnt been correctly handled by our coaching staff. If your starting qb is in the hot seat, you dont give him the keys to the franchise and complete immunity, you put pressure on his a$$, name one elite or even pretty good qb in this league who wouldnt show up and perform when his job is on the line, even mediocre qb's like david garrard respond to threats of being benched. Instead we win one game against the raiders where alex plays ok and all of a sudden there is no pressure on him again, David carr should have been getting significant reps with the starting team until alex proved that he shouldt be, if anything to put pressure on alex who btw played some of his best football this season when he was almost benched. I think players are starting to check out, they know the hammer is gonna come down on sing soon.
Thoughts?

That's because the backup plan was the "Bell Cow" on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd downs. That didn't work...as don't most of Sing's back up plans.

The same excuses should apply to Carr as they do to Alex. They are basically the same person just that Carr is an older version.

No at all, David Carr sucks, to me it was a joke when we signed him, it was like we signed an older and dumber version of the qb we already had. Its on Sing and our coaching staff to know that he sucks and at least make sure hes prepared to play.

How did David Carr become the #1 overall pick in the draft? He's 10 times worse than Alex and i still think Alex looks great at times & just needs to work on his consistency but that comes from coaching

It's just mind-boggling that Singletary crucifies Alex Smith in front of national television for poor play, and yet he puts David Carr as the back up qb, and then applauds consistent penalites by Anthony Davis.
Can someone put some sense into what he's doing to the 49ers?!

Carr is just bad.
He looked bad in pre-season and he looks bad now.
How he made the roster is a tribute to Dingleberry's great decision making.
Nate Davis should have been the #2 (another tribute to Dingleberry's great decision making).
