I almost think Barrows and MM are scared to piss off Singletary.

I don't see how anyone could say Sing is better than Nolan at this point. In '07, Nolan had much less talent with a much worse Alex at QB, and he started off 2-1. Sing has a much better QB, and wayyy more talent, and we are starting off 0-5.

I honestly think Sing is the dumbest coach in NFL history, and I'm not exaggerating. I'm pretty sure that no other team has hired such an unintelligent man as HC.

Do you even watch the games? Do you even understand how the game is played? What does the coach have to do with not holding on to the football? What do you want them to run the run and shoot super spread offense well that would take a good offensive line that can pass block. Would you still be this upset if they had less turnovers and were 3-2 but still ran the ball on 1st down lol.

Most of Smith's turnovers have occurred under duress (which is probably true for most QB). If the defense stops the first down run, they will probably start to play the pass more in the next 2 downs. If you become less predictable, and/or have 2nd and 5 situations, than the QB may not be under the same amount of pressure and make fewer turnovers.

Philly game 1st drive
4 Frank runs pulls the D up to stop the run then the team had 5 pass plays to 2 rush play and TD

next drive
run, run, pass run fumble nice drive and a first down picked up before the turnover

3rd drive
gore run then 6 pass plays in a row and a pick Alex rushed the play turnover

4th drive
pass, run, pass, punt

5th drive
9 pass plays in a row FG

6th drive after philly fumble
pass, pass, missed FG

7th drive
4 passes in a row, run, run Frank Fumble

8th drive
pass, run, pass, punt

9th drive
pass, run, pass, fumble TD philly

10th drive
pass, pass, pass, punt

11th drive
7 pass plays TD

12 drive
8 pass plays TD

13th drive
pass, pass, INT

the article fails to mention the 9ers scored a TD on the opening drive while featuring the run early then mixing in the passes

Smith blew 2 plays the first INT he rushed the play and the fumble

Gore blew 2 plays with the fumbles you have to give Morgan some blame on one of those fumbles he missed his block on Sims and he destroyed Gore

Missed FG didn't help

Poor OL blocking

Play calling I thought was pretty good

Maiocco reminds me of Pee Wee Herman.

Exactly...in fact, there were reports towards the end of last year that coaches around the league were saying we had the most predictable offense. But this is a great article backed up by some simple truths. It's scary that Sinlgetary is STILL trying to control this offense. I bet AS and MJ are going stir-crazy wanting to let it rip. At 0-5, MS, your job is on the line...time to let go or be the first one to go down with the ship!
I'm not sure what you mean by "finally". Many have been very critical of Singletary in the press this season.

You'd be scared to if you know tough questions can get you fired.
I'm convinced singletary has no idea what he's doing as an HC. He's probably a great LB coach, a great motivator, but an NFL HC, he is not.
In the Atlanta game, defenders where calling out the play to watch for before the snap, and they called it right most of the time. Which is no feat because an average fan can guess gore up the middle and be right 40% of the time.

The Niners have Dixon, Westbrook and Gore. If they want to emulate the NY Giants, why not use Dixon initially to pound, Westrbrook to catch passes and get the DL running sideways to the sideline. When the DL is tired and worn down, bring in Frank the best RB to put it away?

because feeling would get hurt. Not way Gore comes off the bench after Dixon and Westbrook. What we need to do is just mix it up more. How about sets where Dixon plays the FB role? Or a 2 hb set with gore and westbrook? We have the weapons, the OC just needs to learn how to use them.
Things would have worked out better for Sing had he hired a creative and talented OC to begin with, he hired JRaye to be the OC and follow his philosophy for the offense and shot himself in the foot in the process, and it's still baffling that he continues to run the same boring offense game after game and then turn around and flame everyone inside the 49ers headquarters when we lose...the only way he can save his job is allow his entire offensive coaching staff to come up with the gameplan and allow the offense more freedom and let the OC remove the predictability from the playbook, while he and Manusky focus on the defense where his talents can be best used, we need to start winning and NOW

Maybe but the last 3 times we did that, the creative OC left for a promotion or was too damn creative for us and we fired him.

9th drive
pass, run, pass, fumble TD philly - Actually, I may be reading this incorrectly, but Philly's second TD was a result of a punt returned from their 25 to the 47 (poor coverage) and then a 3 play 53 yard drive for an easy TD against our weak defense (the long rushing TD)

10th drive
pass, pass, pass, punt

11th drive
7 pass plays TD

12 drive
8 pass plays TD

13th drive
pass, pass, INT

the article fails to mention the 9ers scored a TD on the opening drive while featuring the run early then mixing in the passes

Smith blew 2 plays the first INT he rushed the play and the fumble - The first INT was not his fault as noted by a fan sitting in the endzone where he stated with the winds at candlestick, the pass was right online but started to drift to the right. That said, Ginn didn't even turn around and a more polished WR could have easily adjusted to this pass for a TD. As you can see, the DB wasn't even close to it either and an experienced DB could have easily picked this off as well. No fault of Smith here. It was a long, deep pass that, like so many other passes in Candlestick, was affected by the wind near the endzone

Gore blew 2 plays with the fumbles you have to give Morgan some blame on one of those fumbles he missed his block on Sims and he destroyed Gore - Totally. In fact, if you watch closely, Morgan actually SHOVED the defender right into Gore and his helmet was right on the ball. Tough break but that's our Niners!

Missed FG didn't help - It was the difference in the game. Period.

Poor OL blocking - One poster noted that Smith was pressured 40% of the time last year. It's got to be close to the same this year. Staley and Davis have been abused all year, Iupati and Rachel have missed several blocks. I'm sure Baas has too. Hard to make good reads and accurate throws when you're focused on not getting hit/sacked. Take notes Manusky!

Play calling I thought was pretty good

This is probably the most accurate account of how MJ is doing. I think each week as he SEE'S what's most successful, he will open it up more and more. Philly was ranked #27 against the run, we play better at home esp. on a Nationally televised game so I had no issue with the run calls...the bigger issues where the types of runs, the personnel packages that highlighted the run and the fact that the defense could easly adjust and even go for the strip b/c they had 8 men in the box.

There were a couple of notes as stated above, highlighted.

I just want to see one game without any turnovers. If Alex doesn't throw an INT and some other player doesn't make dumb mistakes, we get a very decisive win.

True! Very true...no good OC wanted to come here after seeing Martz get canned for "philosophical difference" which we all know the definition of now. Even NOW, MS has his fingerprints all over the "game plan." And THAT is the one thing holding this offense back from playing well. With all the huge issues we're having on defense, focus on that and leave MJ and AS alone to play to this team's strengths. It really is that simple.
