I think it was Holmgren who had a story of how at the beginning of every season, he would show numerous game films of Jerry Rice running routes to the new WRs and would ask them to diffrentiate which one is pre-season film and which one is regular season film, and none can guess correctly.
There will never ever be another Jerry!

He had a fire within to excel. He didn't just go the extra mile, he went the extra 10 miles. He practiced hard with all he could give and he played hard with all he could give. He wasn't the fastest receiver, but how many times did we see him separate from defenders.
It's not wonder many of us 9er fans are extremely bummed these days. We have seen the greatest there ever was. The teams of the 80s and early 90s could beat anyone of any era. Now we just hope for a little bit of luck.

Dang what I would give to have the 49ers be as dominant today as they were in the past. It's a shame.

I think that has been completely over blown. He actually was the fastest. Wasn't is said that his 40-time wasn't his true timed speed for some reason.
I think to tell a kid who can't run fast that Jerry Rice wasn't the fastest is false. He was one of the fastest and if that kid ain't fast, he will only be as good as Michael Irvin.
Also, I believe the only reason they put Montana #4 is because they didn't want to put two players from the same team as the best ever #1 and #2.

There's SO much that Rice could do. It's not a question of what CAN he do, but rather.... what CAN'T he do?
He could beat you deep... he could turn a 5-yard slant into an 80 yard TD... he could run-block... he could make the tough catches... he could convert the 3rd and 4th downs... he could catch over the middle...
But not only that, Rice's work ethic is hailed throughout football's history. He's unmatched.
And not only that, he's won Super Bowls... and he shows up in the big games. I see superstar WRs get shut out in playoff games, but not Rice. He got even BETTER in those games.
And to people who say he had the benefit of Joe Montana and Steve Young... he was still effective when he went elsewhere: to the Raiders and Seahawks (ew), he was STILL producing at a high-level.
What DIDN'T he do?

The story Jamie Williams shared about how Jerry would get super excited when run plays are called because he got a chance to hit the cornerbacks in the mouth and "show them where he's coming from"! lol hilarious.
Proves that Jerry is even greater and goes far beyond what statistics can prove.

because he clearly paid the panel of judges. If he doesn't have a problem paying a 16 year old girl to have sex with him I doubt he would have a problem paying for this.
