Rah rah coaches don't do well in the NFL. Motivation can only take u so far. Singletary thought mean looks and motivation won games on Sunday. Players and game plans win football games.

Correct. Need a business like offensive minded coach. Hire some rah rah position coaches to round out the staff.

Thats because we had the best option in place already.
The 49ers went full retard on this one.
How so?
Our offense is crap and woefully basic. FO asked Harbaugh and Roman to change it and make it better. They failed or were incapable. FO asked Harbaugh to get a better coordinator in. He refused.
Basically Jim will not address his shortcomings that have been evident over the last 4 years. The FO was basically faced with keep Jim and keep watching a horrible offense fail to get us over the hurdle despite having the same issues for four seasons, or they have to move on.
No, there were issues THIS season. Not the first 3, where he became the first coach ever to make the Title game in each of his first 3 years. You cant just lump it all together. If things had bounced our way we couldve have at least 1 SB title in those 3 years. But, they didnt. We got 2 Kyle Williams fumbles, an Ahmad Bradshaw fumble blown dead, a LaMichael James fumble, an ignored Bruce Miller raping, a Crabtree PI, and a hastily thrown pick by a overzealous young QB. None of these things were on Harbaugh.
Roman needed to go, but it was ownerships fault for lowballing Harbaugh. If he got a fair contract he wouldve gone for a new OC. The York's are cheap, and they used the lack of a SB as an excuse to lowball.
The fact that they had a coach like him, and fired him for petty crap is such a stupid move.

I don't know. I don't think I want a coach who heavily relies on the OC and the DC for philosophy. If the OC sucks, then we are in the same situation we were with Nolan...an offensive system that changes as the OC changes.
Basically, the OC will be more important than the HC.

The last time the 49ers hired a guy who was in-house and everyone loved.....it didn't turn out so well.

You think he'll be able to get the offense improved? I'm not so sure. You want to compete within the NFL West you need to be able to score more than 30 points in the fourth quarter over an entire season - what makes you think Tomsula is the guy to make that happen?
