Roger Craig Snubbed

I don't know if anyone saw the NFL network HOF finalist intros. It's bad enough that Roger Craig got snubbed from the finalists this year. It's worse that Marshall Faulk will likely go in before him. I won't get into how arrogant I think Faulk is...anyways...the thing that really got my goat was Steve Mariucci of all people said something to the effect of the following. Blah blah blah....marshall faulk you revolutionized the position...nobody ever used a back like you before. Then Michael Irvin chimes in with the whole receiving threat back like Marshall Faulk pioneered it. I understand that faulk is a great back. One of the greatest. But to basically sit on the air in front of a national audience and completely disregard the historical fact that is Roger Craig and him being the guy who absolutely revolutionized the position and its use. Also when you talk about versatility and that's the criteria by which the great Marshall Faulk will be enshrined someone show me the part on his resume where he goes to the pro bowl as a full back. It's not there.

That's obviously open for debate. I think he should be but I don't vote. But people shouldn't be crediting Marshall faulk for revolutionizing the RB position.

His stats are marginal, but he was the first 1000/1000 player.

Roger should be in. He was the first to rush for more than 1,000 yards and make more than 1,000 yards receiving in the same season. There are many in the HOF with a lot less in career stats and playoff impact. Over the years I have seen much written here about his fumble in the playoff game with the NY Giants and how he cannot be forgiven for it. What small minds. He played his heart out for the team and it is very likely the 9ers would not have had their dynasty of the 80s without him. The swing pass from Montana to Craig was a thing of perfection and beauty. That was chemistry.

Craig will probably eventually make it in, but I think some here are looking at him through 49er colored glasses. To say he should go in before Marshall Faulk is a real stretch.
"Marshall is one of the 3 players (Marcus Allen & Tiki Barber) to reach at least 10,000 rushing yards and 5,000 receiving yards in his career and the only one to have 12,000 yards rushing, 6,000 yards receiving.[1] His seven two-point conversions are an NFL record.[2] His 5 games of 250+ yards from scrimmage and 14 games of 200+ yards from scrimmage are also NFL records. Marshall Faulk is the only player to have 70+ rushing touchdowns and 30+ receiving touchdowns."

There are just too many good RB's out there this year.

Nor should you be allowed to post, apparently.

But for real, though, how can you say he should not be in?

No it isn't. He should have been in before Faulk was even eligible.

Maybe, but I don't want to think about what Buffalo could have done against us with Steve as QB. He was not ready at that point.

Seriously, how do you not include the first 1000/1000 yard back in the hall of fame? Preposterous! If marshall Faulk gets in before Roger Craig, I'm goin postal!

Faulk had a better overall career and deserves to go into the HOF. Not saying that Craig doesn't he just happned to be going against a loaded ballet.

So what? Marshall ha a better season maybe, but only had ONE superbowl and he wasn't the first. He didn't do anything FAMOUS, he just did a better job. Screw Marshall!
