Thank you Justin Smith! one of the all time great 49ers Even though you didn't join SF from the start of your career, you have certainly cemented as one of my favorite 49ers ever. Just a monster and a true professional! Wish we could have won a Lombardi trophy with you since you always put everything all out on the line. Goodluck to you Sir!

#49ers Justin Smith said piece of bone detached in his shoulder in 2013 training camp and lodged in back of it. Started 16 games. Happened going against Mike Iupati.

thank you, justin smith. You're an all time great IMO. But I'm glad you made the right decision and retire. I wouldn't want to play for this s**tty team too....

Bonafied badass doing things on his terms. Hope to see him in the hall some day. Will always remember his nail in the coffin celebration after sacking warner to win the game in 09 I believe, and taking the saints linemen for a ride when going after brees.

$3.665M.

Niner Nation and a couple other places I saw have $4.25M which I would think you have seen as well. I don't doubt your number since you seem to be the authority but just curious as to where the roughly $600K comes into play.

Yeah he got that from my tweet. It's due to the top 51 rule, they save $4.25M in cash, but a player making $585K take his spot on the top 51 salaries.

Thanks for the memories JS! You were a great player for us but it's probably best you retire before you end up like Earl Campbell using a walker by the time you hit 50. As far as the fans go, you have to move on. All the great players eventually have to retire...Jerry, Joe, Steve, Ronnie, etc. You can't hold on to them forever.

hahahahaha! Let's be real......If this was a Super Bowl contender, he may have stuck around.
I compiled some pics that brought good memories for me, hope it does the same for all of you, If there are too many sorry in advance.
