I hold him to the same standard as a (much) lesser skip Bayless or Stephen a Smith. It's all assumptions/bias talk meant to instigate/debate.
What bothers me is how some people somehow feel like his opinion is actually valuable? The other guys you brought up are journalist/reporters...they interview and report what they've seen heard etc...they don't really form huge football opinions like Grant does. They don't really have the resume to do that (though the Matt's imo have a longer resume). FWIW when stuff is bad they report it.
what bad stuff do they report exactly?
Most of the stuff they say is very neutered and basic. I read all of these guys (although I stopped with Barrows because of Athletic paywall, I'm not paying for that s**t). These guys seem very held back in their criticisms to be honest with you. It's almost like they get spooked, because they don't want their 49ers press credentials revoked from Jed, so they're tippie toeing a fine line here.
I feel like people don't like Grant for the same reasons people hated Kawakami (who got his credentials revoked at one point if I remember correctly). Obviously, the fans are always going to hate the negative reporters all the time. It's fairly predictable.

Grant acts like he's a OC/DC, QB coach, WR coach, RB coach etc...what the hell kind of resume does he posses to be able to form those opinions and play it off like he's some football savant? He's very arrogant and doesn't really have the resume to back it up imo.
that might be true, but when I read his stuff, to me, they just read like your typical angry 49ers webzone post that you'd see in the John Lynch thread after another embarrassing loss. Is it good writing? Probably not. I tend to like his training camp reports, and that's about it.
Maybe people expect him to just be quiet, be calm, and report factual information like every other guy after losing? I guess so. Yes, I know he writes these things for clicks. That's what people are gonna want to read after losing.

We were in year two of a full blown rebuild of one of the least talented teams in a long time and lost our starting QB, RB and riddled with other injuries last year...what were you expecting to see?
even if we lose this year and go 5-11, you'll hear the same excuses from the fans, the media, and the organization. Whether its this or that. Maybe Garappolo doesn't pan out like we think he does. Maybe the secondary isn't good. The o-line isn't good. No one likes to hear excuses.
I certainly hope that if things don't go that well, I don't hear the "We're in year 3 of a full blown rebuild" excuse. Its so lame and tired out at this point.
