Yes! Sorry you don't like it. But this is capitalism.

It's opportunism. There is no other team in Northern California that I can choose to support instead, so that's a monopoly.

I'm sure that will hold up in court.

Who is talking about court? Capitalism is competition dictated by supply and demand. If you are a football team, you typically only have one team in your region to choose from so as a fan so there is no 'competition' element. I was simply replying to your post.

You can literally choose any team you want. Many fans never lived in the Bay and are huge Niners fans. You're talking to one.

"Monopoly" means something very specific and the way you used it is inaccurate. At the absolute worst it is an "inconvenience".

There is only one team in Northern California. There is only one team that is consistently broadcast in Northern California due to the NFL's coverage for regional broadcasts. There is only one team that is practical to go see games live due to drive time. The only reason that the Cowboys are 'America's Team' is that the NFL has blanketed Texas and most of the surrounding states in their coverage zones. The NFL dictates all of this. Its like Facebook claiming that they are not a monopoly because there are other social media 'choices' out there. If you are in a certain age range 'soccer mom' tells you "I don't know why you missed the meeting, I posted it on Facebook." So you are forced to be on that medium. For teens you have to be on Snapchat and Instagram to communicate with your peers. You can 'choose' others but its not a real choice. I love attending games live so I can't 'choose' to be a Vikings fan, the Niners are my only choice and Jed's monopoly allows him to say, "Hey buddy, want to come to my games? Come on in! $$$"
How come you weren't a raiders fan? They were just as local and a lot cheaper prior to this year.

Stupid argument. What NFL stadium isn't overpriced?

Yeah this. I've been to games all over the country and Levi's hasn't struck me as being crazy money compared to the others.
All newer stadiums are going to cost more since many of them are partially financed by season ticket license fees. That's how the billionaire owners are able to build bigger and fancier stadiums every few years even though their existing stadium may still be usable. Then after the fans have helped pay for the stadium with huge license fees and ticket prices, the owners get the benefit of the value of the team going up. I don't know what the Rams/Chargers new stadium will be charging for tickets but I'm guessing it will be a lot since the final cost of that facility is going to be around 6 billion dollars.

Clearly you haven't looked into season ticket prices with seat licensing fees.

Clearly you haven't looked at other NFL teams with newly built stadiums. Jed didn't create PSLs. That's just the way things are going. Jed and the Niners aren't doing anything outlandish. That's just the way the market has moved.

Hell it cost me $100+ to take my family to the movies. That was unheard of when I was younger. But again, that's not my local theatre gouging prices, that's what they're ALL doing.

Be mad at the industry if you're going to be mad at anything.

Speaking of new stadiums, my folks live in Vegas and just bought season tickets to the Raiders (they're not raiders fans just love football) that s**t was NOT cheap!

Like I just said to illinois9er, this guys has clearly never been to a sporting event in NY or Boston

I don't disagree with you on that. Prices in the North Eastern region of the US are just as SF.

Edit: Just as bad as SF.

So you are OK with Jed taking advantage of 'the industry' by gouging season ticket holders?
