He's right. If you over invest in 1 position it should be QB. First time I ever agreed with Jed York.

,, comparing the joe steve thing to this is dumb. different time, different era,, much different . york is such a dip s**t.. jh was right about him all along. he just needs to shut his stupid mouth

Definitely, a terrible comparison.

I don't compare it to Steve Young. But having 2 good, functional QB'S on the roster in 1 year isn't necessarily a bad thing. It's a little underrated. It's good.
29 million dollars in two back up quarterbacks is dumb.. and you invite all sorts of unneeded drama on the team. i expect more for 27 million dollars in my quarterback,, aka jimmy,, than just being functional. but thats just me, keeping jimmy on this roster is not good in any way shape or form.. sorry lynch and kyle super supporters

Rightly or wrongly they have their new pony. The stallion is still worth something and until another stud needs one he will be in the stable eating hay...or filly.
I have to really give this guy his kuddos, he's really learned from his past mistakes, and he's been able to separate the "fan" side (where you wear your heart on your sleeve) from the business side (being ruthless). -I've heard echoes he's becoming a serious player in the owner's committee, and this is a big deal since it's going to see a huge youth/'new money' movement in the next 10-20 years. You're going to see a lot of timely owners across the NFL step down/pass their inheritance to younger/inexperienced owners, which makes Jed about 10 years ahead of preparation.

You watch the ever-growing trends within the NFL, and your starting to see a lot of owners growing "long in the tooth"/passing away, where their proxies are incompetent/behind the lifestyle/know-how of NFL business management. I never really condemned Jed, but I always thought Jed was far too young, but now I really, really think this guy is getting it at the "right" time. That wildcard game really shows it, where Jed and his young class of management were all over the field while Jerry and his kids were standing up in the press box, bearing utter incompetence. The 49ers are going to be the competitive class of the NFL for a very long time, win or lose.

Gotta say used to not be a fan of the Yorks. After Eddie D it was total collapse. That said Jed lately keeps getting it correct and deserves props.

"I'm not the coach. I'm not the general manager," York said via Nick Wagoner of ESPN. "They have my authority to put the roster together as they see fit.

I imagine some weakhanded or meddling Owner would have intervened in the JG saga by now. York to his credit letting the football people call the shots.
I believe there is language in Kyle and John's contracts that state Jed has to keep his bald ass out of personel decisions.

Gotta say if I happened to own an NFL I'd be tempted to get hands on. Must take a lot of restraint to simply hire good people and stay out of the way. Hoping he keeps bumping up the pay for JL and KS it's a special crew we got.

Eddie D probably would not have this thing going on with Deebo though. If Eddie loved a player, they knew it and things would work out.

Even when players had to move on like with Ronnie, there was incredible respect.

Ronnie held out IIRC before he got a new deal the first time.

Good post. Very glad Jed isn't like Jerry Jones, who has for so long continued to stick his nose in player evaluation decisions such as on draft day - this is from earlier today:

"There's a lot of talk in this business about who makes the call. Who actually makes the call," Jones said. "Taco was Stephen's call. [Micah] Parsons is my call." - Jerry Jones

When you have a solid HC and GM, there's nothing to meddle with

I agree on York I am a lil stunned he's like a fine wine getting better each year. Hired a great HC and GM and letting the football folks do their job. The standard, which he set, is Super Bowls.
Top 5 All-Time NFL Playoff Winning Percentages:

New England 63% (37-2)
49ers 61% (34-22)
Baltimore 59% (16-11)
Green Bay 59% (36-25)
Pittsburgh 57% (36-27)

Niners have done well over time in getting into and then winning in the playoffs. Need to win more SBs, and hopefully sooner than later.

During the past 10 years, the Niners in the playoffs:

9-5
5 NFC Championship Games
2 Super Bowls

Yup his parents are the owners. Didn't know that 3 other ppl: John Sobrato, Mark Wan, and Gideon Yu are also co-owners...wonder what percentage they each own.
