Sounded like someone's desperate attempt at scaring off Torrey and guess what? He felt obligated to ask around to make sure Kap was going to be here. We can be idiots at times not realizing that if we fuel bad press we can alter perceptions so that no players or coaches will visit us without trepidation. Oh the argument will be well thats Jed's fault and to that I say that you sure as heck aren't helping it

bravo

Jed's "win with class" statement painted him and Baalke into a corner and opened both to criticism anytime Baalke signs someone with a criminal past which is just about half of the league. Unfortunately, its sometimes the better players that have a checkered past.

Jed has brought the niners to 3 NFC championships and a Super Bowl!!! He has also brought us to an 8-8 season.. Which is unacceptable in my 9er tinted glasses eyes.. I'll reserve criticism till further proved wrong... If your not getting better. ........

So he isn't doing a good job. NFC Championship games and Superbowl don't matter. Winning the whole thing does and he has failed to do that. Looks like he is failing to keep up with the Seahawks right now and saving all that cap space.

In this thread someone posted Jed's class and what it is to this organization...he talks about how the 49ers would try to teach their own players to be successful on and off the field and giving players second chances

But I heard hardy is going to be suspended

We know that TB has said he ain't touching Hardy or at least it seemed as if he did. We can pretty much forget about dude now.

Telling your head coaching candidate that YOU, the pretty boy owner with zero football acumen, will be deciding who his coordinators are?

This isn't remotely true. Tomsula referred to discussions with Baalke regarding candidates because why wouldn't he get his input? But the hires were Tomsula's hires in the end.

Point taken but people have the right to be mad u know.

Sure they have the right. They also have the right to set up funds for projects like this. I also have to admit maybe it is better for folk to rant and rave on the zone endlessly because what harm can that do but to fill Twitter Instagram and whatnot along with billboards like this ... well now that can potentially hurt us in maybe only the slightest of ways as far as fueling a negative public perception. According to you guys Jed doesn't need much help there but where we can help is by using social media and in this instance billboards to try and promote our organization and fanbase as a very welcoming and appreciative one so that we can invite free agents and coaches over for dinner and see if we can get deals done

Interesting. I would assume that players also have a right to be mad.

Have any current or former 49er players said anything negative about Jed York(or Trent Baalke)?

This quote from Patrick Willis should go on this billboard.

"I would like to thank Jed and the York family for the amazing opportunity and this journey that I've been on my whole life. I thank you all for everything. I thank you for just welcoming me in. I thank you all for just allowing me to be able to show you all that a kid that was told that he could do what people said that couldn't be possible was possible because you guys took a chance on me. Because you guys took a chance, it made it hard on me to come in and just say, 'You know what I was drafted. That's good enough.' You all took me at number 11 when people didn't even have me going as a top middle linebacker. That put pressure on me. That made me say, 'Man, they believe in me this much to take a chance on me at number 11? I've got to give something back.'"

If any one does like the Willis quote, here is one from Frank Gore.

"I want to take this time to thank the York family. You gave me the opportunity to play the game I have loved since childhood. You are truly world class. Thank you to the entire 49er organization for all the support you have given me through the years."

My guess is that Gore and Willis know the Yorks and the 49er organization pretty darn well. Maybe, even better than we do.

Just a guess.

edit: I am hardly a big fan of Jed York, but the attacks against him are beyond the pale.

If you take what Jed said in its complete form, no this is not true.

Giving a player, who has screwed up in the past, a shot at a roster spot is not a demonstration of lack of class. Refusal to do so would be such a demsonstration. Having class does not mean to be a snob or overly discriminatory. That is counter to what having class really means.

The team stood by RayMac during his ordeal, and that proved to be the right decision at the time. It showed that a player should be given the benefit of the doubt, given respect as a person they have come to know. Unfortunately, RayMac made the choice to stay with the crazy woman, only to find trouble again. Goodbye RayMac.

People screw up from time to time, but they shouldn't be denied the opportunity to redeem themselves. Demonstrating an understanding of that and the willingness to follow through with that certainly does not signify a lack of class.

Exactly how I see it. Good post.

Baalke-
"In everything we do there's risk," Baalke said. "We've talked about this many times. It's a risk-reward business. We're not going to bring in people that we don't feel can live up to what we expect a 49er to live up to, but we're also not going to take everyone who's made a mistake in their past and take them off of our board.

"We're just not going to do that. So we've got to weigh the decisions we make and do everything we can so when we do take a player that has had some transgressions off the field, that we do feel we can move forward with that player and not run into any of those situations."

Way to go 9ers fans !! Finally someone is speaking the truth !!

Of course this is the current state of affairs with the 9ers fan base and can you blame them ? Hell no !!

A few days ago, I posted a comment on nfl.com after an article on the demise of the 9ers and I said 4-12 in the coming season is probably not too far-fetched at this point. And like within 30 mins, I had 12 likes. It is what it is.

About time our fans rose up and tell it like it is instead of just sugar-coating every single thing that the organization does.

Alright. Mark this one down in the PYMWYMI thread at 4-12.
