HC is about approach/philosophy. OC is responsible for calling specific plays.

So he promoted the QB coach and DLine coach because the offense was failing...

Understatement of the year!

Yep. York/Baalke saw how Harbaugh wasn't using the players to their strength and that was certainly the main point of conflict. No point is keeping around a HC who isn't going to use the players the GM acquired/acquires as designed, especially when he's looking for a pay increase.

QB coach isn't calling plays, either. That's why the OC that called plays in 2014 .... wait for it... was changed.

HC won't fall in line with GM's philosophy of how to use acquired players = new HC
OC won't fall in line and call plays to agreed to philosophy of GM and new HC = new OC

Is Jed talking football even relevant?

Just go out and shake hands and STFU.

this. He has about as much football philosophy as a potato. Offense dropped off? OK lets fire the guy who's taken us to a Super Bowl and 3 straight NFCC games. Lol Harbs took the shaft so hard on this one. One mediocre year (thats plagued with injuries and inside espionage) and they fire him. Karma is a bytch!

Wait, are you arguing that the offensive approach was fine last year and that York is wrong that the players weren't used properly? Really?! Because everyone on this board was absolutely in agreement that Harbaugh/Roman were not running the offense properly back in December....

This.

The dork is too stupid to realize that he is so stupid.

Everytime he makes a statement justifying the firing it makes me sick.

Just shut up until its time to introduce the new coach.

My point is that the playcaller will now be our former QB coach wasn't he involed in the play calling?
LOL - some fans are so scared of facts when York states them.

He would suggest plays, but Roman made the final call as OC. Roman got suggestions from multiple staff members at various times. I'm sure Rathman suggested a number of run plays in some situations. Would you say Rathman made the playcalls on run plays last year? Of course not. Just like Chryst didn't make the playcalls last year.

Roman was ultimately responsible for the specific plays called.

i am not saying the offense was fine, it was far from it. Kap was craptacular, VD was a shell of a former self, Crabtree continued his career of mediocrity. Thats not all on Harbaugh, but even if it is so what? Harbaugh turned this franchise around and Jed cant even give him a chance to rebound on his first slip? Would ANY other franchise fire a HC with the accolades that Harbaugh had? He didnt even have a losing season, he went 8-8 with tons of injuries throughout the roster. I dont believe Jed for one second when he tries to justify this move because of the offense. Harbaugh didnt f**k this team up Jed, YOU did.

So Jed complains about the offense and then hires a dline coordinator to be head coach.

He hired a coach who understands how to make things easy for his players so the players can play fast.

Come on, now. Jed had NOTHING to do with the last couple years of offensive scheme and Harbaugh had EVERYTHING to do with it. The intractability of Harbaugh with respect to his offensive system was the only thing that bothered me about him (although I always wondered if his sideline antics led to more bad calls).

Have we forgotten so soon about the NFC West defenses calling out plays before the ball was snapped? That offense was as predictable as it gets.

This. Blaming the offensive woes for firing a successful head coach is a blatent cop-out corroborated by the fact that he hired the DLine coach to fix it and didn't bring in much credible offensive help coaching wise.

In business, if there are strong clashing personalities it doesn't take much to know you want to move on. Usually, even if the current slip to lower success seems like there could be a rebound, a rebound is actually not likely. Once differences in approach come to the forefront even a sincere effort to work through it to return to form has a low percentage of occurring simply because the strained relationship will always persist in causing distrust, double guessing, petty arguments, etc. IMO this would not have got turned around with the same people involved even if their efforts were sincere. An uncomfortable work environment to the degree this became is not a productive one. Better to part ways and move forward with a new atmosphere clear of the tension, distrust, angst, disagreements on approach, etc. I don't see how the relationship could have got better. And that goes for the three men involved across the board (York/Baalke/Harbaugh) - I don't see ALL of them re-adjusting to make it work (and more than likely none of them could have adjusted accordingly to make it work).
